wrapping the barrel

guys, whattya think about wrapping stuff around the barrel of ya rifle, mostly talking about camo tape & camo cloth..
will it change a POI or distract the harmonics so to speak?

never caused an issue for me and i've wrapped a few coyote rifles!

Didn`t affect my 204 or a buddies 223 but i wouldn`t say it can`t cause some change. I would think if you tightly wrapped a barrel to the forend it could cause some changes.

Just don't overdo it and you should be alright.

yeah thanks for the replies, i just mean up until the forend, so of course not too push the forend onto the barrel; the tape is about 2 inch wide an can be run long ways but it needs adhesive tape to stick the start an finish, so im thinking of wrapping around in a spiral wrap.

anyone done it this way?

I did mine up to the action then cut the tape along the sides of the barrel channel. Did not change a thing except looks.

I do my rifles all of the time only time I have an issue is when I wrap the barrel tight to the fore end.

Why don't you shoot it after wrapping it? Beats guessing what will or won't happen.

I wrapped my .308 lightly in a ghillie type material when I was Elk hunting. No difference all the way out to 700y, I shot at a 2L bottle after an unsuccessful hunt :<

double gun,
just so happened that this morning i did shoot the rifle at 100m,an it shot spot on, i raised it 6 clicks an let off a relaxed shot an it hit 1.5inch higher dead inline.. thats enough for me.

I forgot to mention I wrapped my barrel.from app 1cm from the end of the brl up until the fore end in a spiral lap, seems to be spot on.

It does not affect POI as much as warping a barrel...
