When i hunt a carry all my stuff like knife, sharpener, firestarter, lighter, compass, flashlight, multitool, gps, walkie talkie, spare ammo all on my belt. It gets heavy and uncomfortable having that weight on your hips all day. I dont want to carry all that stuff in my back pack because sometimes i dont carry a pack.
Anyone use a vest of some type to carry all the stuff you want with you at all times? I was looking through the new SIR/Cabelas catalog and i see a few vests for airsoft" GASP" "SHUDDER"!!!!. Something along these lines might work well for hunting.
Anyone use something similar for hunting?

Thanks:)

Ever thought about a Turkey Vest. I love mine, and I also use it for crossbow hunting for deer in Ontario. It has a padded seat that can be lifted up and out of the way when you are walking, lots of pockets, with different compartments. I would like to get one in all Blaze Orange for our deer rifle hunt in the fall, as the Orange is a requirement here.

Something like this:

I went to an Army surplus and bought a war vest (not sure the real name) but it works great when I carry all my archery gear to and from my stand. All the hunting gadgets and gear go in the front of the vest and I strap my tree stand on my back.

Instead of a vest, how about utilising a Camelbak Mule or such, I am very happy with mine...or conversely you can also use LBE, admittedly it does make you walk like a troop or a cop...but it works.

IMHO, a vest without adequate waist support will more quickly start to place stress/fatigue on the shoulder/back muscles the longer you stay mobile.

You may wish to check out the following Upland Bird Vest (L.L. Bean), that IMO, will serve better as a day pack/vest. I purchased one and later sold that on the EE as I am primarily a Bird Hunter.....would've retained that if I was pushing bush for deer and needed to carry just the basic requisite essentials.

There is also this pro-guide vest from Cabelas....the only issue is that minus a waist support almost every vest will sag once loaded up :)

The Transporter type fanny pack is something you may wish to check out as well.......offers good load balancing features.

I did it for one season but found it to be hot and didn't carry the weight as well as a proper back pack so I changed back to a pack. You can't fit a cut up deer in a vest ;)

I was looking at a Cabelas site today for something like that too. Try Wholesale-at least there is a store in Kamloops that we can go to. Heard stories of Cabelas coming to Ontario somewhere. Imagine that. Screw them, I want one here.:)

I went for a 5 hour drive to and from Kamloops months ago and thought that Wholesale Sports sucked donkeys balls. What a waste of time.Nothing i was looking for was in stock. Not only that we inquired why i wasnt recieving their catalogs liked promised. They took down my name again, address etc and STILL no catalog.
Im not surprised though. Wholesale Sports has a bad track record for good reason.

Got Joel Martens working on our gelding. Has had him for just over a month. Should be picking him up by the end of week. Will make a good backpack, I'm thinkin'!!;)
