Wrong to lube under action?

I put a light coat of oil on all surfaces of the rifle, including between the rifle and bedding. Its too wet here to not do it.

Yup, absolutely. You know before you go out hunting that every part of the rifle is going to get drenched. This is why my friends refuse to own lever guns or break open shotguns. Even wood stocks are a nightmare.

You need to be able to easily access every portion of your rifle, in order to take it apart and clean it properly. The humidity here is so high that you need to clean all your guns every 3 months, and the easier they tear down the better.

Eezox, its super thin, apply only a little over the metal surface, give it a bit of time to sit/dry, wipe any excess, then bolt together, should still have enough on there to help prevent rust, without creating a slick film to slide on like thicker oils can.
That said, if shooting in the rain, its good procedure to take it all apart once back home...
