I sent a message to Winchester about the lack of 17 WSM ammunition for a last year
Got a reply 2 or 3 days later thanking me for my message
No info or excuse or if they are going to start making more
Just thanks for the message and support :confused:
 
Production has slowed for this ammo as the need for more military ammo is needed. As per US forums.

I wrote them last week too and got the same message. Basically saying they can't fill demand and wait. The LGS is maybe tired of me checking all the time. Have two rifles no ammo .
 
17 WSM was released in 2012 and is still being produced today just in lower volumes due to the current ammunition climate. <<<< a quick google of .17wsm ammo resulted in this sentence.
17 WSM has been around what a dozen years ?
Many long lived calibers have also seen the result of low ammo production and current World issues and you will see this is nothing new.
You should have asked if they would buy your gun back if thye had no intention of producing ammo for this caliber.
Crappy Tire in Powel River BC has two boxes, likely not worth the effort for the Op, but someone local might need it ;)

Should have bought a good supply, writing on the wall for this caliber, hard to find and many others, 32 special, 7-08...RUM cals etc.

Non-issue off you stuck to the tried and true 243 270 3030 308 3006 for eg
