WS-MCR - Ongoing Impressions

well after handling the rifle for a week or too...." picking it up..holding it...bringing it up to my shoulder a& aiming".....Man this rifle is Beyond HEAVY

I'm sure it weighs more than my old 308 FN semi auto. Its almost ridiculous. For a 223 rifle ..this is built like a TANK !
This weight is overkill for a 223.
I cant imagine trotting through the bushes with this......Its like carrying a "jack- All"
If this was a 308 or larger,...I could understand.
I'm sure its never gonna break LOL
Its just to much for me." I'm a little guy".
Guess I'm going T97

I'm sure it would be an excellent "bench" shooting rifle,..or if you had a bi pod on and your waiting for Yotes.
but I'm not that guy. I like to walk a lot.....miles through bush ect.
I really dont want to do that with this rifle.
Its heavier than my sks with the Mag rail and scope.
The Mcr is very front heavy...and I understand if you want a NR rifle that 18 inches of steel has to be hanging off the end.
the T97 doesnt have this issue. Do I prefer the t97 over the mcr.?....not really ..but what else am I gonna do.

The base MCR is 7.4 pounds...My stock Valmet is 9 and my custom inprogress build is already at 12.

Hell my old AR was a 12.5" quad rail and the rifle came in at around 7.2 pounds.

I use this rifle to simulate my work C8 and I do repeat courses of fire with female officers so I'd say exercise should be everyone who isn't disabled's friend pre shooting for health and safety long term. The rifle isn't too heavy, it simply isn't as light as some previous options. For weight 'feel' it will be very hard to beat the balance on a bullpup design. If you simply want a bush gun look at the Kel Tec SU16, very light rifle and there is an inbound shipment of RBD's which in my view is the next best priced option out there.

Details on their subforum, but ATRS is selling match grade barrels with a gas port tuned for the WS/WK, light contour is 1.75 lbs, and the Medium is 2.35 lbs. The light profile one may help with the front heavy weight on the MCR, for those who have a problem with it.

I really agree with the bolded part of that statement. I was hoping for something closer in weight to an AR with a govt profile barrel but the weight isn't a deal breaker. On the plus side, it's quite accurate for a factory barrel on a gas gun and it really doesn't warm up fast at all. It's also still the lightest rifle I own by a good stretch, haha. I wanna say it's 11lbs with a 1-8.5x LPVO in a unimount, Magpul MBUS, MDT folding adapter, CTR and a BFG VCAS sling.

well...I have moved on. sold the wk. just wasnt a good fit for me. No worries.
I am so glad that the Canadian manufactures are stepping up and making rifles here.
I hope they make a lot more. We are certainly capable of doing it.
The US has been doing this for a LONG time and have the bugs worked out.
I'm sure overtime canada will produce even more great rifles in the future.
I'll wait and see what else pops up and buy something different later.
"still kinda worried about what else is gonna hit the PROHIB list
