I scored three pounds of the above at the Estevan show for $20 each. Front of the can says "BALL POWDER", and on the back "WSL1". Had to do some searching to find out just what it might be good for.

Probably use it up making rounds for my lever .357 and 44 rifles. To me, it looks to be a fine flake type and should ignite okay. Anyone have some thoughts and/or experience with this powder?

Thanks in advance for any input. :)

Boy, I haven't used Winchester Super Light in 20 years. It wasn't produced for very long. The burn rate is a bit faster than 231, somewhere around Bullseye or Red Dot. There is very little published data for pistol rounds, mostly .45acp loads. It was sold as a shotgun powder. I think I used it for 9mm 125gr. loads with around 3.5gr if my foggy brain recalls.

Auggie D.

Okay. Thanks fellas. From what I gathered, a 4.0 gr charge should work with a 158 gr. run lead in a .38 special case. I just use the rifle, a Rossi 92 20", for plinking.
