WSS salesman.......

On the morning of the 8th day, when God made the Winchester 30-30, he called that round thing under the barrel a "tubular magazine"........

Don't know if that helps the debate. Just a tidbit of information I recall from church..........

At least you guys out west have a gun store to go to. There's lots of places in Canada (like here) that the only way to get stuff is by mail. Try getting your powder and primers that way.

Complain all you want, but it's way better than nothing.

.

I also try and help out the mom & pop stores to like P&D as it is important to have competition aroud.

Competition is good. I shop at all the stores in Calgary with the exception of Pro Line Shooters 2. All they have seems to be consignment and priced too high.

Church? Tell me? Was Jesus a Winchester or a Remington sort of guy?

I find it absolutely incredible the kind of advice you can get at any gun shop. I had a local (experienced) salesguy try to talk me out of the Mossberg 535 ATS combo and I consider it to be one of the best values for a shotgun.

Then again, he also admitted to buying a $37,000 shotgun, so of course he wouldn't be impressed with a Mossberg.

Personally, in many cases, your own personal research will be far more beneficial than talking to a guy behind a counter, just my opinion

So he worked at a gun shop and bought a $37,000 shotgun. Sounds fishy to me. Maybe he forgot to tell you the gun came with a new truck attached.

I'd like to add that WSS recieves the best customers also & those that require a lot of patience to deal with.

There is never such a thing as a stupid question. :(

So I stopped by the store friday night. A customer was looking at a stevens and was asking the salesman about it. the kid didnt seem to know much, and I gave him a few highlights about them. ( you know how long it can take to get any help at the counter, so I figured I would help out a little) the customer appreciated the comments and said thanks. a little strange but whatever.

I just needed a chance to hold the savage american classic.(30-06, jewelled bolt and pretty ###y looking by the way) As I was commenting and looking at it, the sales man who let me handle the gun started asking me a few questions.

- what do you have now? I replied a savage model 110c in 30-06, made in the early 80's. ( just one of the few savages I own...)

- He replied, I dont know much about the 110 it sounds familiar what does the C stand for? I replied CLIP.

-salesman replied: oh okay, I wasnt sure. You know, these ones are a lot better than the ones made back in the 80's.

figuring this was his sales pitch I let him ramble on about why it was better than my OLD rifle.(sleeker look, accutrigger, locking lugs, yadda yadda)This was damn near an insult/lecture for owning an older rifle!!

When he was finished I replied: Well I bought my 30-06 110C series J, from an old trapper. He shot quite a few animals with it. I myself have downed a lot of game with it as well.

For the amount of help this guy was, I may as well have bought it from a catalouge.

- Just another reason to support your local gunshop..

I promptly left and shook my head. Does this sort of thing happen all day at your local wholesale sports?

You never told us which WSS this happened?

You never told us which WSS this happened?

I would bet it was Calgary, because they have a few young fellows who have had not too much experience with guns in general and very little experience with old Savages etc. Calgary also has to put up with their share of know it all customers who seem to find situations where they can expound on their vast knowledge at the expence of those young guys. Just my bet.:D

With what the gun stores can afford to pay their sales people what do you expect? I worked behind counters for a long time. It's great and a great way to learn but, that sure isn't a living!
