WST For 9mm?

Has anyone used WST for 9mm? I can get a good deal on a big jug of it. There isn't a tonne of data for this powder for 9mm, but some folks on other forums seem to dig it...
 
WST is a very fast powder. The reason you don't see a lot of data for it in 9mm (Winchester doesn't even list any) is because there it little room for error in your charge weights with it in 9mm. It doesn't take much of it to cause some pretty dramatic spikes in pressure.

Fast powders in 9mm are generally used in subsonic rounds to try and reduce the amount of gas being produced. They're also useful for light target/plinking loads. They are not a good choice if you're trying to get any kind of velocity out of your loads for the reason above.
 
Many Bianchi cup shooters are using WSF in 9mm (for 50 yard bullseye). I have never used it myself, but it is high on my list of powders to try. People who shot the 9mm for accuracy speak very highly of WSF.
 
Right now I use WST exclusively in my 45 with 230gr cast bullets with great results, but your right it is more of a plinking (sub-sonic) powder. That is exactly why I was using it to develop loads with only 147gr bullets. They were only travelling 850-950 fps. My results with it showed it would be a good powder for that bullet combination. For the record I settled on Powerpistol for my goto load. Longshot, Bluedot, and WST worked very well as well. If I run out of Powerpistol then WST would easily be my second choice.

Oh and to answer your question about metering well in a Dillon. I only did load development and I hand measured each round.

I believe it would meter very well in the Dillon though. I have a 550 and think from the looks of the powder it would flow easy and be very consistent.
 
I use N320, it's a great powder! Good case fill, low recoil, extremely clean with good accuracy. Ends up costing maybe $8 more per 1000 rounds than titegroup, which is a good fallback powder for it.

I've not tried a powder more accurate than Power Pistol in 9mm. 6.0 gr. with a 115 is the most accurate, 5.4 gr. with a 124 is nearly as good. 4.5 gr. with a 147 is decent.

If I was shooting a bullseye, 6.0 gr. with a 115 XTP would be my goto load. Downside to Power Pistol is the flash and the recoil, which are not the best for action shooting.

Was just wondering kombayotch i can get titegroup for under $20 a pound where N320 is closer to $50. In your experience is N320 that much better?
 
Believe the accuracy load for WST with a 124 is 4.8-5.0 gr.

Depends what you're doing with it, I guess. I've never been able to get groups quite this good out of Titegroup though...

Kingdarb i also use WSF i find it pretty good fills the case more than titegroup and i find the recoil good and low flash.
