I see a lot of WTBs for 303 bullets these days on the EE.

Excluding 7.62x39 bullets, what is out there for 303 esp in heavier choices?

Just sent email to Higginson. Will check at the LGS next week when I am up there. Nothing at Cabelas or Bass Pro in Moncton.

I've got a couple boxes of 174gr and 180gr but they're from a while ago (and not for sale). Have they been discontinued or just currently unavailable?
One of the most common weights to be cast is 200gr. I cast .314" 200gr with gas checks myself.

Hornady has stopped offering a lot of bullets, esp RN. I'm just doing a search to see where folks are getting theirs.

I've also been researching this a lot lately and I'm hoping for good results from the 7.62X54 experiment. Powder and 150gr bullet for around $0.25 ...

There is a guy in South Africa who makes .303 (.312) bullets with lots of options including 215gr. Apparently real good just kind of slow to ship as he makes to order :) http://www.questbullets.com/pricelist.htm The prices are in SA Rand, one of which equals 0.093 Canadian.

Again? There's nothing on their site about them being suspended from production. During the height of the shortages they suspended most .312" and .323" bullets but they were listed as temporarily unavailable or some such on their site. Just because they're impossible to find doesn't mean they aren't being offered. All the .312" that show up locally are scooped up immediately because all the major US manufacturers suspended production for a year or so and everyone ran out.

FWIW the 180gr I have are .311" and Speer, not Hornady. It'll be the same story though; nearly all bullets suitable for .303B are bought up quick still.

Another option is to try .308" bullets of any weight. They don't work in all .303's because of the varying bores but they do work well sometimes. I'd say about half the .303's I've loaded for have worked with .308" bullets quite well. Usually need to swap your expander ball for one meant for a .308" bullet though; they tend to just fall into the neck if you use an expander meant for .311-.312" bullets.

Looks like I found some 174s. Gotta Lee Speed enroute that neede feed. It really should get 215s though for the full Fudd effect. :)

Thanks Johnn!

:)When I first started out hunting big game, my first rifle was a Simpon-Sears 'special'. A sporterized 303Br Lee Enfield. Come Moose season in the B.C. central interior with dear old Dad, 215gr Dominion was our;) Moose medicine. I picked up the 215gr Woodleigh to 'play' with, remembering those days past. Presently, all I have in 303 is the JC I told you about. Tradex has some of these 215gr Woodleigh available, :rolleyes:and for a better price than I paid for what I have left. The 174's will be in the mail tomorrow:).

At a later date, but here's a photo of:( my last Moose hunt with dear old Dad.
