WTB: a non semi carbine!

If you are worried about him going after semis, do you really think that he'll let you keep something with a barrel that's less than 18"

then why did the one Dlask made get the R?

I'm not familiar with that rifle or just how many parts from it were compatible with an AR. Nothing the classification lab does makes any sense. Seems to simply depend on their mood when something comes across their desk. I can think of a rifle that I won't mention the name of because you never know who's reading this that I though would never make it as non restricted that passed right through with the happy stamp and then there was the mutant that shares no parts at all other than a common trigger pack and pistol grip that was classed restricted on what appears to be solely it's looks.

why not? A lot of single shot 22's will be confiscated if they say 18" minumum

And what makes you think that makes any difference to them?
The end goal is to take every firearm from us, so if their new legislation takes a few 22's, shotguns, or bolt actions along the way what's to stop them?
I'm sure their first targets will be all semi auto's, then will come the detachable magazine fed rifles, then any repeater, then the single shots and shotguns, then maybe crossbows, then compound bows, before you know it all we'll have left is a sharp stick that we'll have to register with them.
All we can hope for is that they don't get very far through their plan before the next election and that Canada wakes up and doesn't vote lieberal or NDP next time around.

bothe the upper and lower would not interchange with a regular AR.

Must have simply went in on a day when they were being a bunch of d!cks and decided that nothing with a black finish was going to be non restricted that day.
You should know by now not to expect anything they do to be rational or for them to actually classify firearms based solely on facts.
Why didn't Dlask challenge the decision if there was nothing in common with an AR other than the trigger and the magazines it used?
I would really like a firearm like that or the Troy PAR.

Every person on this site should buy an AR if people are that worried the Lieberals are going to take away our rifles. The more people (voters) they see themselves p!ss!ng off the less likely they are to follow through. If everyone keeps selling off their AR's and other semi auto rifles and looking for other alternatives those b@st@rds have already won.

In talking to Joe back then, I believe he made revisions and submitted it a second time with same result. If the Troy rifle gains NR status then he will certainly have grounds for a challenge. For all we know, troy could have bought his design

Hard to find, I tried a few budget brands and was not impressed and sold or am still trying to sell. My ideal rifle would be a 16" barrel 308 win rifle of some sort with set trigger, detatchable mag and scope rail. Would need to be a quality brand so the fit and finish is up to my standards.

I was thinking a Ruger Precision Rifle in .308 with a completely new 12.5"+/- barrel and a AR SOPMOD style stock just might do the trick (relatively lightweight and compact with decent range/knockdown ability), still wouldn't give up on AR's though; nor would it be as good as an AR-10 that's NR.

^This, we can't give up the fight to own and use firearms (especially in places other then a range) that have been a legally obtained, owned and used responsibly. While it will be a battle we still have to remain positive that our voice(s) will be heard and that common-sense will prevail with respect to using firearms and the firearm regulations in Canada...

I for one believe that the greater the numbers and louder the voice(s) from owners of semi.-auto. firearms (of all types & calibre's) preparing to fight for the ownership and use (and not just at approved ranges) the greater the difficulty it will be to make these negative changes a reality.

Remember as responsible firearms owners of all disciplines: "United we stand, divided we fall..."

Cheers D
