I would like to buy some hunting land so I'm looking for some advice: optimum size, recommended location, what should I look for, what should I totally avoid etc.
Any help will be highly appreciated.

When I was looking for a spot around Parry sound it took me around 2 years. In between that we found a nice house we bought because I was looking for our current hunting property. The problem I had was real estate agents were not willing to help because the commission was low compared to a cottage on the water. Then to top it off every time I checked MLS and found a place I was interested in it seem to sell in a couple of days. That was quicker than I could go have a look and make an offer. I must have seen a dozen places go before I had a chance to make an offer and buy our current place.
As for size, 50 acres or smaller would be good enough for a couple of guys depending on the surrounding area. For location I could not help as I do not know the Ottawa area well but in a farming area would be good for deer. Walk the property and look for sign, talk to neighbors and see what has been taken in the area. If the area has been producing some good sized game you should be good to go.

Unless you have very deep pockets, look for hunting land at least 2 hours West of Ottawa. There are some good bargains to be had if you look around & can move fast.

I just bought 65 acres near bishop mills. has farm field, 80% woods and wet lands. going to be receational and hunting for me. I just kept my eye on the mls until something came up that I liked. drive around in the country and see what is posted. there is 30 acreas for sale on the main drag out of town but I think it looks mostly like open field, didn't look into it as I already had a bid on mine.
