WTB New Light Weight Sleeping Bag Help

I was going thru my back pack stuff and see that it is time to acquire a new light weight sleeping bag for fall prospecting/hunting.

My summer bags and truck/wall tent bags are still going strong but my old down bag has basically given up... :(

I am looking for a light weight barrel kind of bag that is rated up to -20 degrees C.

I always carry in my Sierra Designs Clip Flashlite tent so I don't necassarily need it to be water proof, resistant would be great though.

Any thoughts, recommendations or personal experience with bags would be greatly appreciated.
 
Well you can check out Wiggy's or Kifaru, SnugPak. I have a Wiggy's bag an it works great. I don't have a SnugPak bag but there jackets are the "cats ass" IMO.
 
depends on the price tag for me, but I don't appreciate having to buy a new bag every 2 years either.

The Marmot Couloir comes with a price tag, but hey, I was buying a bag every two years and never satisfied with either.

This is the end all be all for me.

I guess I should have added the weight that I am looking for as well 2.5lbs to 4lbs at the most.

Check out Integral Design.......best bags there are for the money and they are Canadian. I've got one of their -20 mummies and it truly is a -20 bag in a very lightweight package.
 
Lots of good bags out there, as mentioned above- All good bags. I'd start your search there, and narrow it down to what fits your parameters.

Keep in mind you are tall- Not all bags fit tall guys like you , or broad shouldered guys like me..Many mummy bags simply won't zip up around my shoulders, and some won't allow you to get all the way in them.
 
Good points Gate and another reason to stay away from the cheapy bags. Most of the decent manufacturers will offer both tall and broad configurations.
 
I'm definately not afraid of spending money to get exactly what works for me my bag that I am replacing for example is now about 30 years old. :eek:

I bought the best down bag available at the time and it has amazingly lasted this long mind you I am rough on my stuff but always take good care of it.

GH excellent point and probably one of the reasons I have issues with so many bags I have looked at over the years I just can't sleep if I can't move I maybe tall and thin but I also have fairly wide shoulders so understand how tight some bags are.

SH I will definately look at your recommendation and I will always buy Canadian if I can.

One other thing is I need a zipper at the bottom of the bag my feet get hot in the coldest of weather and I need to open the bag a bit at the bottom.
 
The latest sleeping bag that I have is a Mountain Hardware Lamina-0 rated to -18C. Great bag, light and compresses down really well. I would definately say it is the finest sleeping bag I have owned. Unfortunately it does not have a yipper at the bottom of the bag for ya. Good luck.
 
My bag as mentioned above, Seems to be about 6' 6", never really checked. I saw it in the store, got in it in the store, and bought it.

I know there are some bags that offered in tall and short....

Just checked, my bag is offer in short 6' and tall 6' 6" (This is the one I have and I feel like there is plenty of room in there. I'm 235, 6'1"
