So what are my options here in Canada? I have my restricted and non-restricted PAL.
I've seen and shot the SR-22. I've seen the colt m4/m16. Rem VTR, mossburg tactical .22, and the M&P .22
I really like the MP5 either gsg5 or the HK mp5, however I think they are prohibiated.
What are your guys recommendations?
Thanks Andrew

Well the Colt's and M&P are restricted so unless you plan to plink exclusively at the range, you want a non-restricted rifle. The SR-22 is a popular and obvious choice, the Mossberg is cheaper (both in price and feel). Best thing is to go look at them at the gun shop and pick the one that you like the most.

Totally, I like the sr-22 but until my friend put on an aftermaket barrel the accuracy wasn't there. However the new barrel added a tonn of weight. To the point that I can only shot bench style and not free stand. I'm shorter than most. 5 feet tall and weight 120 pounds. I'm a gymnast so I do have some strength but holding it up for long periods is tough.
I was looking at the M&P. But there again it would be for the range only. GURR
I do have a large acreage but it's illegal to shoot the M&P there.
The Mossburg is cheaper and money isn't an issue so I'd like to stay away from it.
The sr-22 also has alot of feed issues and the 50 round drum jams more often than not.
Again, thanks for the info, any more would be a big help!

Airwolf,
I have an SR-22, I still have the stock barrel on it, and I find I can pull better accuracy out of it than my stock 10/22, with equivalent optics.. That being said, perhaps you will see even more improvement with a heavy barrel, I don't know.. my opinion the barrel on the SR is heavy enough.. too bad it can't come threaded from Ruger.
The other thing is once you add the rails (which many guys do) they get heavier yet.
My rifle comes in around 7.x pounds with rails, optics, afg, sling mounts, etc. which ain't that bad, but heavy for a 22.
You could opt for one of the 10/22 kits that may be on the lighter side.. say marauder or tapco, perhaps save a pound?
The M&P would have been my first choice save for it's restricted class which I want nothing to do with on a .22 plinker.

One other option that I'm considering, but will have to wait a few months until they're shipping to Canada.. Keltec SU-22 - I dig these rifles :) Only 4 pounds unloaded
Most likely to be Non Restricted seeing as it's 556 counterpart (SU-16 .223) is in Canada now and Non Restricted.

my mosburg has way way more issues than feeding, my sr has none of them

Same my SR functions excellent, VERY rarely any feed issues.. every couple hundred rounds (with the ammo that is best suited)- use BC Steel Lips

Don't get me wrong, the SR-22 is a great gun. My friend hasn't tried alot of different ammo. That could cure alot of feed issues.
With the dynapoint and xpert HV the .22 jams and bends the bullet so much its not useable. This happens about every 25 rounds or so on his gun. The heavy barrel improved the group by almost 1/2 an inch. It was quite awesome.
I really like the Kal tec, but from what I've been told it may be a whole year before we see them here.
My friend also has the Kal tec sub 2000.
Very cool gun and shoots well. If they had that in .22 I'd be all over it!!!!!!!
Wow you guys are awesome!!
Thanks so much,
Any other ideas?

Not yet.. The SU-16 goes for around $800 and change, so maybe $550/$600

The problem that I have with Keltec imports is the price. Keltec is a budget brand in the US and the products are built accordingly. The SU-22 is a $300 rifle and the quality reflects that. Now I understand that we pay more for all guns up here, but not 100% more. This isn't a $600 gun.

I know what you mean, Kel Tec price for sub 2000 $400 and change.
My friend paid $600 plus tax on his.
So I'm guessing the SU-22 will be the same.
Any ETA set for Canada?

I totally love the su-22 but does anyone know if the magazines for the kel-tec su-22 and plr-22 are interchangable? I would hate to encounter the problem with the s&w m&p 15-22 and 15-22p.

Wow but who are the canadian dealers?

CRAFM has them in, i was at the range today and this ISSC MK2 feels real nice, i have the mossberg 22 tactical and it shoots fine with cci stinger or mini mag but its plastic.

mossberg 22 tactical $300
ISSC MK22 $695 (at crafm)
