This is for all you Glock haters out there! Yes, Lonesome donkey, you too! :)

So I've been shooting a Gen 2 G19 for close to 30 yrs. The gun was starting to have some hiccups ( posted here). A very nice CGNer, who is a Glock certified PD armorer, took a look at my gun. He noticed erratic ejection issues as well as some small worn areas. He asked me to contact Glock to see if there were any recalls on my pistol as well as who to order parts from. He gave a list of what I will need.

Glock USA responded to my email OVERNIGHT! Connected me to Jim, their Canadian rep.
Jim got hold of me immediately. He told me he would be in Vancouver to teach a PD armorer's course and he would personally look at my gun.
Long story short, Jim took time out of his work schedule, inspected my pistol and asked if I would spare him 10mins. Duh!!
Within 15 mins, he brought my gun back. He replaced the extractor, gave me a spare, replaced the main recoil spring, installed a new back plate and gave me a whole new firing pin assembly. I also got a Glock shirt and hat as well as other swag.
Total price?
$0!!!!

Those of you who've seen my posts know I'm a Glock fanboy. Now there is absolutely no doubt about it!
I've never been treated this well by any business, let alone one as huge as Glock.
So thank you Jim and thank you Glock!

Seriously though, excellent service.

I'm beginning to move forward. I rather like the Ruger American Pistol in .45 ACP.
Even with a polymer frame.
What I especially like is the stainless steel chassis, containing the entire fire control mechanism and slide rails, the steel trigger, steel magazine release, and stainless steel magazines.

Much like the modular sig P320, except with a machined SS chassis instead of a stamped one.

The grip frame is reduced to merely the equivalent of what a stock is to a rifle.
Which is as it should be. The chassis is the serial-numbered firearm.
The Grip? Just another part like a grip panel on a metal-framed gun.
A lot easier and cheaper to replace with different ones.

With this, Glocks have become a rather obsolete old design now, don't you think?
With their dinky little clips molded into the frame serving as slide rails and all, and with the polymer frame as the serial-numbered gun.
Not modular at all.
Ah well, time marches on.

What I really like about the Ruger American Pistol is that you can buy it with or without a manual safety.

Very true...but it's even nicer when a company stands by its product and does some great 'pr' at the same time...nw that's quite rare..

Oh I agree! And that was the original plan. But when the Glock rep says he will go over my gun and fix whatever he thinks should be fixed, who am I to say no? ;)
We had a short conversation about the future of Glock and their designs but nothing I can post for now.

Thanks Import! You need another Glock in your near future! I see a G22!

I can't sell you what you won't buy. Enjoy the Ruger. They make good guns also.

Ironic though that you call the gun that basically started the polymer gun revolution " obsolete"!
(Yes, I know the HK VP70 was the first polymer gun but it was never popular)
 
Been thinking about getting a 17 or 22. Great to see such good service here in Canada. Might actually buy one this week after hearing this :)

I would love a Glock 19, but I personally can't stand the mandatory restricted barrel...even if they mask it with a thread. I guess the op must have a fancy prohib Glock 19. Lucky.

Here's to 30 more years!

Pssst....there's talk of possibly a 106mm non threaded Glock OEM barrel for the 19...maybe....

Great story! I have been looking at Glocks a lot lately,lol, might have to join you on the Glock bandwagon soon Still Alive, I'm still impressed by how well I shot your 19 , and how nicely it fit my hand :)
