I bought a Hornandy dig scale about 6 months ago and its already not reading anything.
It will turn on, but wont read weight or calibrate the 100gr calibration weight that came with it.
And yes i put in fresh new batteries lol.

Which electronic one do you have? Phone Hornady on Monday and see what they will do. I have a GS-1500 and so far works great. One thing I found out about the electronic scales especially the cheaper ones is not to leave anything on it longer than to get the weight as they start to drift badly after awhile.

They usually last a year and a few days till the warranty runs out. Then they quit. My Hornady lock and load is a POS. You set it to 16.7 grains if you want 17 grains. Then press buttons till it clears and reads the actual weight. Can't wait till the price of RCBS Chargemasters goes down.

I bought a few of the cheap digital scales off eBay based on a referral from another loader here on CGN and they have been great so far. I check the weights against a beam and they are perfect every time.

I have a RCBS 5 0 5
It has its issues too.
It sticks, I throw a scoop into it and have to give the beam a tap. Its a pain. Im a single stage press loader, thats already time consuming lol

Have you cleaned the dust bunnies out of the pivot point??
Been awhile but is the 5-0-5 magnetically dampened, just might need a tweak there as well.
Call Hornady and get a new one under warranty ...
P?IA waiting for the new one, but then there should always be a ''Plan B" , eys?
Let us know what they say (Hornady) please.
Rob

Yes I've cleaned the 5 0 5
But it still sticks. Once i tap it it measures accurate.
I will keep you posted with hornady.
Thanks everyone

I also have a 505 that was used. It did the same as the one you have. Phone RCBS on Monday and tell them what it's doing. They will either tell you that they will send new bearing blocks to try or to send it in for repair/replacement. Either one will cost you NOTHING as it will be warranty for the 505.
They sent me new bearing blocks for mine and it works just fine now.
I went through 3 hornady LNL beam scales until I got one that works perfect. They had a batch that the dampening magnets were installed backwards and the beam would take forever to settle. Hornady looked after me 100% as well as RCBS did on the 505
Phone Hornady and if it is still under warranty they will fix you up. Don't take this the wrong way but unless you contact both of them talking about it here won't fix either.

So called RCBS, wow...awesome.
One explaination of problem and boom!!
Took my address and needed parts are in the mail!
Hornady a little / a lot more complicated.
Because I live in Canada they cant print me a return label to send back for either repair or replace. Gotta deal with retailer then if unsuccessful call back and arrange for a third party from alberta to asses it.
Ugh

I'm really surprised about Hornady but if you have to deal with Korth in Alberta that are good. Guy you should talk to there is Troy. He was really good to me. It's great for us here cause they are only a few minutes outside of Calgary.
Not sure how long it will take you to get parts from RCBS but it took me a couple of months before I got them. They said they only ship to Canada once every few weeks plus they got my address wrong. Hope you have better luck.

Did you phone Hornady or just emailed them?

RCBS took about 5 weeks to get my decapping die and part
Hornady was faster at about 2 weeks with my LnL parts replacement, though electronics are a little different as they need to assess it versus just sending you parts for repair

I had two of them crap out. The second one could have got me seriously hurt. It was reading light. Anywhere from 3-10 grains. Only thing that made we second guess was I had a case bulge when seating the bullet. After that I got a Redding beam scale. Pulled the loads I had to compare and found a large variance.

I weigh every power drop before loading. The beam scale is by far the simplest.

So far the one I have is working ok but I check with a beam scale as well when I check the powder throw after a certain amount of throws on my LNL. All of the beam scales now are a crap shoot as well.

My 5-0-5 had stuck like that sometimes. I would just knock the table a wee bit with my hand, the slight vibration would release the beam. After I cleaned it the problem went away.
