wtf is wrong with people?

Cats...

In Germany,(and I realize we arent there, but they have been at it a lot longer than us) it is the law that if you are a licensed hunter and are hunting and see a cat, feral or tame, or a dog in persuit of game, unless it is a pure bred dog, (then its your choice whether you shoot it or not), and if you find the owner he can be charged, you will shoot the critter on sight. If the owner can be identified, they can be charged. If on an organized hunt, you passed up a shot at a cat,or a fox or a magpie(all pests) and took a pheasant for instance instead, you would be ridiculed for a long time. They seem to, because of the lack of space, be more aware of the damages caused by cats and dogs running loose. Should be the same here...its a non issue....if the cats are running wild, then they are hunting and should be put down. I like grouse and huns and songbirds..

I'll agree 100% that dropping of animals is criminals. But to take killing them as my hunting responsibility ??? I don't remember learning that sort of non-sense in my hunter training course, although it's been a while and maybe I need a refresher course. No wait a minute my "Ethics" and I know that to be a dirty word, will not allow me to do so. People who drop off animals should be prosecuted, not the creatures that fall victim to their heartless actions. And please, save me the "have you seen what feral cats will do to ...blablabla". Hey, Merry Christmas by the way.

I said catch them or kill them.. your choice. But leaving them to suffer or become feral is not my idea of good conservation or humane treatment of a domestic animal that should not be left in the wild. I don't care what your personal opinion is but I know what the facts are with regard to feral cats. There is a big difference between a rural and an urban feral cat...
Ask any Game Warden what he has had to kill the most of in his career and if he is honest he will tell you feral cats. This is a huge problem in many jurisdictions.... maybe not in your neck of the woods.
This is a good read if your interested in facts ... not opinion. Merry Xmas right back at you.

Bigredd, I must admit to not being educated as to what a feral cat is. I do live in the country. My neighbour rancher lives 1/2 mile away and has barns, sheds buildings etc. They've got tons of cats, they just breed and get born, live in the barns. I've never seen one come over to our place and make trouble though. Now, we have a grazing lease which borders a reservation. The natives there have a lot of dogs that just run around everywhere they please. When cattle are on the lease, we have seen the dogs pack up and get after the calves. We will shoot them on sight. So, I guess that would be about the same as the feral cats over in your neck of the woods.

I edited this after reading your link Bigredd. Thanks for the education. After seeing the numbers of song birds that are loss to them, I have one question....a 22-250 outta do right???

House cats are great pets... but dropping cats off in the wild or anywhere else is criminal. Catch them or kill them it is your responsibility as a hunter/conservationist.

P.S. cats should not be let run outside of your house... period.

Finally, the voice of reason!

the mush from their heads kinda looked like this but with more red stuff and a little bit of fur mixed in;)

First of all, I am strongly on the "shoot all feral cats" side of this discussion.

Having said that, I've gotta thank this guy for posting the kind of tasteless s**t that makes defending my hunting/shooting lifestyle soooo much easier when trying to educate an anti.

sorry nancy, are you offended by the site of raccoon fat which is the same as looking at a pound of bacon or the fat from a deer, chicken, etc?

believe it or not thats the fat from only 1 raccoon:eek:

EDIT: it doesnt matter wut hunters say or do the antis will always be against us wether we share pictures of animal parts, talk about how we blew a cute little bunnies head off, or post pics with no blood at all. they know that hunters kill animals and thats that. do you seriously think that picture would make an anti think any worse of us? of course not because they already few us a pyscho savages.

that part i don't agree with

Yeah, sorry...I went a little too far there. A 8 month old baby came in to the hospital a week ago totally mauled by a cat. Apparently the cat jumped up into the baby's crib. The poor parents were devistated...the baby is fine now, just lots of scratches and teeth marks...the cat was put down BTW.

So that just made me dislike cats even more than I did before.

How about we delete the bad taste photos guys... this thread is a sensititive topic with many of us and we can do without the shlock factor.
I have pets and I would rather see all dogs and cats in good homes with caring people. It causes me extreme personal angst to have to catch or cull dogs and cats that have been abandoned or lost by incapable owners.
Lets have a little respect for the animals and people who care for them.:(

I was gonna edit those pics out but then I realised that this section is full of "hunters", I'm sure 99% of you guys have seen some blood and guts at one point in your hunting career haven't you? Please don't tell me you get someone else to come over and gut your kill after you shoot it?

The guys posting the pictures in question: poor taste, you can edit them out if you like.

Maddog: I'm 100% with jjohnwm and bigredd on the tasteless picture. For sure we've all seen blood and guts, but it's not the hunters that see it that you should be worried about. As we have seen such things, then what's the point of displaying it.

CDNhunter312: for sure they will go after us no matter what, I just don't think it's wise to give them MORE ammo.

Alright then, I'll p.m. those two but I still feel like a mod nazi as the pic of the guts ain't cat guts, it's deer fat, you can see the carcass laying right beside it. I'm not gonna let this turn into a political debate on whether or not some animal lover or PETA member see's them cause I don't give a rats ass if they do, this is a hunting forum and they shouldn't be in here but if it's gonna cause problems with the guys in here then I'll straighten this thread up.

I've shot well over 500 cats in my career. The damage they do to wildlife is immense, they take craps in my kid's sandbox, exposing them to parasites. They are worse than coyotes in the damage they can inflict on gamebirds and song birds. In fact I like coyotes for the reason that they eat cats. I like individual cats, but as a species they are a pestilence that one day we will realize have no place outside of homes and fenced yards. Many countries (Australia, New Zealand) have shoot on sight policies for cats. Australia even trained it's snipers on populations of feral cats. I'd have shot them too.

Your right Maddog... to hell with the PETA's. But I have sympathy for the cat and dog lovers we have as members... well most of them anyway.
I have no probs with a gutpile... anyone wanna see my still steaming hole in the deer heart Pic?

Ya, your right, I worded that wrong, should have said tree huggers instead of animal lovers.

I just lost my dog last year and my cat just turned 18 years old and she still plays like a kitten.

Now just because I've got a cat and had her many years doesn't make me a cat lover, I still go up to the barn every few months and take out the tom cats that seem to show up in there out of the middle of nowhere (22 hornet does a nice job). Gotta keep the population down.

Don't think I've ever seen a feral cat in the wild.

But I had nine mouse killing experts back in the spring.

Three is plenty for the six acres I live on but, momma goes into heat and well.....

Yes I could go to the vet and have her fixed for $200 and she could be coyote dinner the next day so I'll deal with the kittens. I won't shoot them because out in the country it seems like there are never enough.

Now I have 2 (the pup got two kittens, a car got one and the rest, well we do have fox and coyotes around here.............

But good news, momma is almost three years old and on her third batch of little'uns ( I think her son is the dad ) Cats are as bad as the Gohlers of N.S..:p

How'd my wife put it, "I hate cats but I hate mice even more so the cats stay":D
