WTF My Para wont accept a full mag

Well well well... Just noticed today at the range that my POS .45 Para wont accept a full mag if the slide isnt back.... :HR: :HR: :HR:

now with 9 it will... I tried to beat it in and still didnt work...

Im a NoOb when it comes to 1911...

what would cause this... I also have to add that the 10th round is a f**king ##### to load in the mag....
 
I had a problem like this with one of my m&p magazines , actually 2 if i recall correctly . The first one was an off the shelf Smith and wesson one , all i did was shave off some of the legs on the follower and its given me just enough slack in the 10th round to properly seat .

The second magazine came with the firearm and im thinking of trimming out a portion of the guide spring as it looks like theres way too much inside and its buckling on top of each other . but you have to be careful as it could result in being able to insert 11 rounds if you take out too much .
 
Thats because you need about an extra half a round or so of room when the mags full so it allows for the bullets to push down when you place the mag in and the slides foward.
As Kc said, you can either trim the follower and or spring, depending which one is stoping it from going down any further.

Mine does it to but if you jam it in hard it stays and compresses just enough.
 
Man you're having lots of problems with that para.

I visited Ontario Sports back in the day to buy a 16-40. They were the official distributor for Para. Cash in hand, I decided against it. Para was new then and quite hyped about.

I remember thinking that if that Para was ever dropped on the floor, it would split open.

I returned to Waterloo and bought a Brigadier 96 instead. Oddly, driving back, I got a call from the Gun Room that they just received a gun I'd be interest in. That was the Beretta. Still shoot it today and was never disappointed in my decisions that day. I feel even better about it when I read threads like these.

Sorry about your luck though.

I'd say massage rounds in and and out of your new magazines before you cutting anything off. Leave the mag fully loaded for a while and massage it again. I think with time the spring will relax a bit, it will set and you'll have just enough room to insert the mag on a closed chamber with a good smack.
 
I think its all because of stupid magazine limit laws, the companies are freaked making the mags and always seem to make them on the tight side.

Like the world will implode and babies will die if your magazine had 11 rounds in it.

Have a Para 14-45 Limited and it does the same thing. Frankly it doesn't bother me. My initial clip has 9 and the others have 10. No biggie for me.

The 9th & 10th round will be a ##### in a new mag, the spring inside needs to be compressed and worked in. Load up 10 practice rounds (if you have them) and keep the mag fully loaded for extended periods of time.

It will become easier.

The tolerances on my Para were very tight from new and took many many hrs of cycling actions, loading and reloading mags, etc, etc for it to run smooth.

Things need to wear in, be patient :D
