Did you buy from a dealer or a private transfer? A transfer from a dealer usually takes 2-5 business days. But with private transfers, I heard some cleared in 2-4 weeks. Also, consider the holidays. I had a similar delay last November, remembrance weekend. It took them almost a week.

only open 3 days this week with reduced staff, and mountians of paperwork, hopefully when the LGR is gone transfer will go faster since there will be less paper to do :D

Sorry about it taking longer for your gun :(

Ever heard of Christmas holidays! Gov't offices are short staffed at this time of the year.
I have actually, but 2 weeks ago it was before the holidays and if business was as usual than it could've been done by Christmas. Hope it doesn't stay that way, 2 day private transfers was a nice change from the previous 2-4 weeks.

Bought a pistol on the 21st, transfer approved on the 23, received it yesterday

They have always been extremely fast

Sorry to hear that you are still waiting, but do to the holidays, don't expect anything until at least the 4th

Cheers

Holidays mister

Its common government practice to promote vacation time and lieu days during the winter holiday period as its several short weeks back to back. Minimizes disruption throughout the year

this is why i LOVE BC...

ATT's approved and emailed under 30 minutes, transfers approved under 24 hrs!

so quickly that the seller in ONT was shocked to recieve my PM telling him to contact CFC to get the go ahead to ship!.

I had my pistol in hand within 5 days of sending my EMT.

I call the seller and i get bs about waiting for paper work, mine is looking like 5 weeks from purchase to delivery.

I sold a restricted privately the week before Christmas, transfer took three days after a very polite and pleasant call to the ladies at the ontario CFO...bought a restricted this week on Wednesday from a retailer, transfer approved today...maybe I'm just lucky?

Up until the last couple of weeks BC has been great. I started a transfer on Dec. 19th and it still has not gone through. I called the CFO to see if there was a problem, they said no just Xmas holidays. Bah Humbug I hate Xmas.

Tell me about it still waiting for a transfer to go threw from the begining of the month. But then again how many people do you think baught something this time of year. I am gathering with the sale's and pricing of most items for the month of December transfers were way up and also a lot of people including workers at the CFO's office do like to take vacations this time of year too.

Ontario CFO

I've had nothing but great service. My last transfer took all of 24 hours and the one before that was just as good or better.

When I got started in this game, I chose to contact the office by phone and the gal who answered that day gave me the names and responsibilities of several of the key people in the office.

From that point on I have dealt with one and only one person in the office. I get excellent service and never forget to say thanks. As with every office, we are dealing with people all of whom like to feel appreciated. It doesn't take much to do that in a quick email.

Besides I like to deal with people rather than nameless "offices".

Works for me :)

Waiting here to. When I called in they said that the calls from vendors/sales was over 20x normal in Alberta over last few weeks, I guess more Alberians getting armed :)

Great, but waiting sucks :(

Slow transfer times

I am currently waiting on two restricted transfers that I purchased privately. It has been two weeks now and I have called almost everyday to check on the progress. The CFC has always been very polite and told me that it is the Ontario CFO that is holding things up. I understand that I could not have picked a worse time of the year to make these two purchases but what on earth does the Ontario CFO do with these requests?
