Oh please I've got one on my 10/22. It's very helpful when using your 25 round mags to their full capacity in the shortest amount of time.
As for a 243, maybe the gun was for a new hunter who was really gun shy?

Yup, it's to spot hits. Pretty cool to be able to see your bullet impact through the scope. That said, I'm no fan of brakes...
if you want to just make noise why not buy some drums?

Most clowns on this site knock something before they even know what its for, then there are the odd respectable members Like yourself that actually know that a brake is popular amongst varmint hunters who prefer a larger cal.
My dad has had back surgery and also has a bad shoulder. He says recoil really hurts him. I was thinking of a .243 with a brake for him so that he could enjoy deer hunting again. Seems like a reasonable reason to have a brake on a relatively small cartridge.
