WW 760 in 7.62x51

I know the M14 is quite pickey about the burn rate of powder that you use. Wrong burn rate will damage the op rod if i'm not mistaken. (M1 user dont ya know) If you want ball powders to use try AA2520, 748WW, BLC2, other wise, use 4895, 4064, Varget, or similar powders.

For the m14/305, I strongly suggest against using the 760 or Varget or anything slower. Too much gas port pressure and volume. These guns are set up for a particular ammo spec. Not flexible to reloads like a bolt rifle. parts can wear or break.

You want a 'fast' for cartridge powder. I have used H335 and Benchmark with excellent results. Others have used Win 748 and H4895 by the truckload. I think H322 would also be a nice powder.

If you are going to Winchester powders for the M14/M1A/M305, use 748 because 760 is TOO slow.

Send me an e-mail and I'll send you some articles on reloading for the M14/M1A/M305.

RePete.

only reason i wanted to use 760 was because i inherited a keg of it.
i did some experimenting today, with 168 HPBT seiras, and i think i ended up at 47 grains over the crony to give 2640 ish FPS. felt nice in the gun, didnt seem to dirty. was a good acurate load aswell it seemed.

If you'd like to part with some of that 760, I'm a bolt action man.:D As long as the price is right.
