In this period of COVID-19, I have plenty of time to visit my safe...

Here are two interesting and pretty scarce Mauser Model 1914 pistols,
namely because of their WW1 German regimental markings on front grip strap.

Those are the only two German WW1 regimental marked Mauser 1914 pistols I could acquire in over 30 years as a collector!

1) Mauser 1914
Regimental: R.50.8.K.
SN: 40711 - Dated: 1914

It refers to 50th Regiment of Infantry, 8th Company, based in Silesia.

Info taken from:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franco-Prussian_War_order_of_battle

2) Mauser 1914
Regimental: 11.G.R.8.K.
SN: 135969 - Dated: 1917

It refers to the (WWI) 11th Grenadier-Regiment, 8th Company.

History

11th (2nd Silesian) Grenadiers "King Frederick III" (Breslau), belonging to 22nd Infantry Brigade, VI Army Corps / raised 21 Nov 1808,
although it appears that Grenadier-Regiment König Friedrich III (2. Schlesisches) Nr. 11 was named that way in 1900.

This regiment changed name many times in a century:
(according to: http://wiki-de.genealogy.net/Gren.R_11#Namensgebung):

21.11.1808: 2. Schlesisches Inf.-Regt.
5.11.1816: 11. Inf.-Regt. (2. Schlesisches)
10.3.1823: 11. Infanterie-Regiment
4.7.1860: 2. Schlesisches Gren.-Regt. Nr.11
22.3.1888: 6. Gren.-Regt. Kronprinz Friedrich Wilhelm Nr.11
21.6.1888: Gren.-Regt. Kronprinz Friedrich Wilhelm (2. Schlesisches) Nr.11
6.5.1900: Grenadier-Regiment König Friedrich III (2. Schlesisches) Nr. 11

For your appreciation, fellow collectors.
