Iam looking at selling a few Holsters and Iam looking for some help on the $$ value before I post on the CGN EE Forum. Canadian WW1 S&W large frame cross-over holster marked 1916

in good condition.I have the S&W 455 Hand ejector,but cant sell so I will split up. WW 2 German P38 Holster

I have complete Sam Brownes, belt,single cross strap with leader, proper holster,frog in v good cond. and WWI dated for up to 150 dollars. Condition and markings matter a lot. P38 hardshell, I've owed many, opens up with the top third from the centre and buckles in this centre. Yours could be a soft shell worth half as much depending on leather condition and if the factory code and acceptance nazi eagle are visible. It is hard to tell from small pic. Value 40-150 dollars, unless a rare marking exists. That mag is worth 40+ as well if included. That Browning holster I've bought mint for $5 but the going rate excellent is 20-40 dollars, again markings important. That lanyard if included is worth around $20 too depending on which nations and cond. and roughly what years made. Hope these help.

WHY on Earth are you going to split up the WW1 holster and revolver?

Is this someones rig that they carried during the War? If it is, it should not be split up becuase you are ruining the history and the value of the rig. It would be extemely dumb in my mind to do this and would be an insult to the WW1 soldier who carried it.

The P38 holster has been messed up and is really worth nothing to a collector unless you can prove that it was done by either the german soldier who carried it or by the allied soldier who brought it home. Right now you would be hard pressed to sell it for $45.

The price stated for the BHP holster would be accurate.
 
Sorry if I came off sounding a bit strong here.

I work in a Military Museum and I have seen stuff like this happen to very historically valuable pieces. Not just pistols and revolvers but to uniforms, medals, badges etc....

If your holster is named or unit marked and the gun is original to it, it is worth alot more. If it is, I can show you were to find more info on it.

It can double or even triple the value of the piece. This is not just for the $ factor, but for the historical factor as well. To not only have the gun, but the holster and belt that the guy who wore it with. Just think that rig could have been at Vimy, Amiens. He could have used it in the inter-war years with the militia.

So sorry if I have offended you on this but I hate to see the history be lost on this.

Hi Cam. I bought the rig set as you call it from a Collector in 2002 that I meet early on a Saturday AM at the Gun Show in Oshawa.He had this Smith & Wesson 455 Hand Ejector inside a display case with the revolver half in the Holster ans the 50 + pages of a LT. Waghorn of Toronto (who was a banker before the war) .I walked by the display as did most and each time I got closer and finally I stop for a chat.After hearing the story that he bought it from Lt. Waghorn himself .On the inside of the the Holster flap is the name of Lt. Waghorn and is very clear. In the 5 years that I have owned this gun I have never fired this more for sake that the previous owner never fired either which makes this only ever fired by the LT.Now that I have read and typed this story makes me wanna keep.But other $$$ things going on.Thanks Cam ps.
