There are a couple of different plans and sites on the net showing how it was done and the final working piece.

Depends how safe you want to be I guess. Best one I saw used an inert gas for compression and had the whole nine yards of safety equiptment, pressure rated fittings etc.... most basic was a super soaker and a lit rag.
