So I know I want one, due to the history and all that. but I really have no clue what i should be looking for in terms of value and such. What are these worth and what are some key factors i should be looking at?
I will take it out once or twice just to say i fired one. But really more for the collection.

Any tips and info would be helpful.

Here is my list of what I look for that affects value:

  1. Matching serial #s
  2. Overall Condition wear, etc.
  3. Original finish - no Suncorite
  4. CH vs T serial #? Tangent vs fixed sights?
  5. Lower Serial #
  6. Decal present and if so how much is remaining?
  7. Accruements included. Lanyard ring, holster, spare mag, etc

Now if you see one with the Inglis in a diamond on the slide let me know first. :)

Hope this helps. Thanks

Get one while you can.....the prices are on a continuous upswing to say the least. For a nice example with fixed sights ( T series) ....anywhere between 800-1400 depending on condition. Recently one sold at an Ontario auction for $3250 plus taxes and 15% buyers premium (8/10 condition). !!!!! I have an example of each. Well worth the investment! CH series (Chinese contract) with tangent sight and a holster/shoulder stock, expect a major premium weather or not it has chinese markings. One word of caution.....check frame and slide for cracks. Some folks like to shoot the old surplus Submachine gun ammo through them....they will put up with it for a few rounds, but extended shooting of these rounds WILL crack the frame near the barrel strut above the trigger ( have seen 3 in 5 yrs like this) and watch for broken extractors.....hard to get and expensive! I have a 67 FN T series I use as my regular shooter, and find the HP's to be the best fit for my large hands and shooting style. Prefer it over my 1911's even :) If removing the mag disconnect, save the parts, easy to remove and put back, and significantly improves the trigger pull on them. Feel free to pm me and I can send a couple web sites for further info if you like. Hope this helps :)

Inglis pistols are meant to shoot the Old SMG ammo . We never were issued different ammo for pistols and most pistols have shot hundred s of RDs if not thousands

from an old vet who served from 1965 to 2005
