ww2 SS volunteers

There is some great reading for history buffs (like me) on this topic by doing a quick google... FWIW, good old wikipedia comes out on top
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Wehrmacht's_foreign_volunteer_units
which also includes this very interesting section on brit wehrmacht volunteers: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Free_Corps

From http://www.feldgrau.com/gb.html (another very interesting site)
In spite of all information to the contrary, only some 29 core members of the BFC were kitted out and vetted as members of the now Waffen-SS sponsored unit. These BFC members included three Canadians, three South Africans, three Australians, and one New Zealander. The rest were either UK nationals of pre-war Mosley-ite persuasion, or in the case of at least two members, had one parent of German birth. All members of the BFC were issued their Soldbuchs using psuedonyms.

The highest decorated soldier in Germany in WWII was an SS Commander from Portugal. Tried in abstantia in Belgium. But enjoyed retirement in the warm south of Europe. Leon Degrelle.

.

so was degrelle portuguese?

I would be VERY suspicious of any SS markings on captured weapons, SS markings are even really uncommon on German made rifles. the VAST majority of kit used by the SS was never SS property stamped to begin with, let alone captured Mosins.

Problem is, there's TONS of fake SS stamping dies out there and unscrupulous people willing to use them. I certainly wouldn;t pay more for such a rifle, just my $.02 worth...

I think its real, only on the miss matched bolt, and rifle was not sold to me for any extra, only not was that it had a German stamp on bolt, close look shows the SS sign presumed. It also is a rifle that has been around.

forty4forty, if you want i can post that picture on wehrmacht awards, people seem to know their stuff there, could be quite interesting if you had an original, and rare, cause i agree with Claven, ss captured rifle.

A number of years ago a certain importer was offering a variety of non-German small arms with WaA marks. Don't recall any guarantees that the marks had been applied pre-May '45.

And the Russians and other Commie Bloc countries know it too that by stamping the Fake SS markings on the rifles will bring a big premium by selling to the buyers in the US.

there needs to be some way of reimbursing someone for choking on their pop and spitting it all over their keyboard. Nice eagles. BTW I have "the Luger that Hitler killed himself with" How do you keep a straight face when you hear that?

just as i thought, the members on the wehrmacht awards forum agree, those markings are fake, btw blackgunlover, ill trade you Hitler luger for stalins mustache, deal? :D

No too sure about Finland but occupied Norway & Denmark had a smaller but effective force called SS Wiking or Freiwilligen Divs..

how am i supposed to take that skull to the range, hell, i cant even drink beer from it, sorry, not interested.

all bad jokes aside, is that what the commies claim to be Hitlers skull?

That is BS. It was a Walther. How do I know? I own it of course.

I'm thinking of putting it up on the EE soon. It's the pride of my collection, well, other than my Lee Enfield that shot down the Red Baron (interestingly, it's marked as a 45 Ishy, those clever clever people).

Start cashing in those savings bonds! I won't let it go cheap. It still has Hitlers blood on it.*

*(for those with fancy DNA testing capabilities, it is a well know historical fact that Hitler had many cow blood transfusions just prior to his suicide)
