Hi everyone.

Wondering if anyone can help me with these.
Have about 44 of these. Varied WWI images, captioned in French. Believed to be Belgium.

Any thoughts? Value?

All the best.

Mike.

No idea on value, caption seems to read Fortin blindé Belge ( AKA Fortified/re-enforced Belgian stronghold)

Yes the first word, could be train. Very hard to read script handwriting and the photo is very fuzzy. Could also say Armored Belgian train.

I read the caption as "train blinde Belge" ... Belgian armored train. The first word is indeed sort of fuzzy but the last 2 are pretty clear. It does look an awful lot like a train of some sort when you look closely.

That one is of a train.

"lantern slide". Thank you for adding that.
Some like this one show a "staged" shot. Others are of actual trench area's, shelled buildings, etc.

Sorry for the quality of the shot. It was difficult to find a way to photograph it so the image could be seen.

flat bed scanner 1200dpi or better.

but thinking about it now there don't seem to be as many people out there with computer scanners anymore.

basically its like photocopying but digital output.

You need a scanner that can scan in transmissive mode - i.e. light comes from top lid, through the side rather than reflected from the bottom.

I've got a nice one I use for scanning large film formats but I'm 4200km away from you :(

If there are any of Canadian troops I bet the Canada Remembers section of Veterans Affairs Canada would love to have copies/scans of them to use in commemorative projects.
