i'll see if i can find pics of the brit or Canadian armor troops using a Panther or brits using 88s in the desert, i had them somewhere to use as references for a model series i was going to build...

I seem to recall seeing a show on the history channel where they showed a German captured P51, with the German cross painted on it.
That would be so pimp cruisin around in that thing.

Nice story. I sure there were thousands of Canadian lads who would have loved to live till their 90th year.
Canadian lads, Russian lads, French lads, German lads, Italian lads etc.
Lads are lads, doesn't matter which uniform they wear/wore.
If you take a bunch of old Japanese and Brit/Aus/Canadian soldiers and put them together at a remembrance/memorial, they will smile, congratulate each other on being on being sunny side up and otherwise enjoy each other's company.
All sides, had some bad apples.
Soldiers at war, are people that for the most part wouldn't consider doing what they do.
We leave that option to governments to force us into those actions.
If it were up to me, citizens wouldn't act as seconds for the social/religious elitists. Send them off to war first and I'm willing to bet there would be a lot fewer wars.

the luftwaffe also began a similar project with a captured RAF Spitfire mk.V repainted to look very much like a BF109. then re-engined with a daimler/benz 605 series inverted v-12 engine as found in the 109/110 series equipped with a modified me110 engine cover. the idea was to prove german dominance as far as engine technology was concerned.
also, a copy of WWII magazine I purchased a number of years ago had a really interesting article about british tank troopers appropriating a german panther tank to aid in removing some of the very stubborn pill box emplacements that their own equipment had trouble getting rid of. I'll see if I can find the issue. the tank was a panther AUSF. G captured by the Coldstream Guards and nicknamed "Cuckoo"

Saw a photograph some years ago of a whole platoon of Coldstream Guards with Panthers.
It was a 1946 pic, IIRC.
I would REALLY like to know what became of the Panthers which the French were using up into the 1960s. Targets, scrap and museums, likely.
Like all of ours.
