Without actual bore pictures I would put it at 750 to 800 since it isn't de-nazified. Need to see the front of the grip and the barrel to be sure. Walther manufacture mid war early 43 so I would think closer to 800. If the bore is worn or pitted I would drop the price down to less than 700.

One other thing, DON'T shoot the ammo in that box through that pistol or any other P38 or P1.

It's TO HOT. It may not cause issues over a few rounds but it will eventually cause some serious problems.

I have seen that stuff bulge barrels, crack slides and frames, blow away the extractor/plunger/spring assembly and cause the top strap to be damaged. Hopefully the ammo is a souvenir as well and not a normal diet.

RC P38s fetch $700 these days and are mixmasters.

For some reason, BATTLEFIELD bring backs were and sometimes still are bringing less. It's a mystery to me. That looks like it might very well be a battlefield pick up. IMHO if as mentioned the bore is VG to Excellent that pistol's value should at the very least start at the price of a RC. Just as much history behind it but it hasn't been "refurbished."

If it's in similar condition inside and out, start price should be around $800.

Many people used to turn their noses up at these fine pistols. They weren't nearly as ###y as P08s (Lugers) so they didn't get much respect.

A lot of people don't understand the historical significance of these pistols. They all know what a P08 looks like and equate it with WWII Germany. Very few people I talk with even know the Axis armies issued anything else.

The huge influx of RC P38s and later P1 pistols put a big dent in prices. This will change.
 
There were 3 in the last Switzer auction. One Mauser, one Spreewerk and one Walther....all matching and all Nazi marked. The final prices ranged from 700 to 950 (plus a 15% buyer's premium). That seems steep to me but stuff in those auctions seems to command top dollar more often than not. The Spreewerk and the Walther went for 900 and 950 respectively and looked to be in nice shape. The Mauser was went at 700 and looked to be a little rough with a non matching mag.
 
I think the price ranges are close, I have been out of these for a few years, for a lot of years they where like Winchester Commemoratives, total non issue, but Just wait , look at prices of SV70's and even SAS.
P8 is neat, these are ugly, but work, mind you at end of war everything coming out of the mills where ugly
That is a different market of course,.
Re that ammo , I use to have a bunch of that , worked great in MP40,s, I tried a couple rounds in a sig 220 and HOT!
SMG was a different load, sometimes marked and sometimes not marked.
My take on prices of handguns is that after the local clown was elected last year , a lot of people where scared, and wanted to dump their guns, 12-6, but they wanted full retail, the prices where off a bit
A CZ restricted rifle comes to mind that was traded to me last year for a 30-30 lever

Now the serious guys , like me still buy guns, R1, 12-6 etc
