I have been trying to find an early WWII Springfield receiver to start my own build as so many on this sight have done.

I know the Breda and Beretta receivers were commonly available, but that wasn't what I was looking for.

I put an advertisement on the EE, but so far no luck.

Does anyone know a source for these?

Is my best bet an import from gunbroker.com?

Thanks.

There is no place for anybody to order milsurp stuff.
Importing will cost a fortune. $250 on top of the roughly $400ish USD, via Prophet River, for example. And a seller on Gunbroker may not want to export. They have to ship via an FFL, too. Had a look and there are no early receivers on Gunbroker right now anyway.
When you start looking for a date specific receiver, you either need more money or have to wait longer. It's just nature of the beast.
You might find a beat up rifle at a gun show, but you'll pay way too much for it. Lot of guy at shows think their junkers are worth U.S. prices. Saw a guy at a Woodstock show with several in really poor condition, not recently, he wanted $775 for 'em and he carried 'en back and forth a lot.

AFAIK there are no remaining retail sources for WRA or SA Garand receivers in Canada. Up until 12-15 yrs ago you could still buy ex-Danish WRA or SA receivers from sources like Lever Arms and the now defunct Districorp, and I bought a few at that time. Best to watch the EE or troll the local gunshows. Most likely you would need to buy a complete rifle with a good SA receiver and then tear it down for a rebuild. Could be that the cave that SFRC is getting their Breda and Beretta stripped receivers from might have some, but who knows.
