I ordered the Magpul Zhukov Folding Stock Kit for WK-180 / WS-MCR from SFRC. It was not mentioned that it would fit the WX-MCR, but I decided to give it a try anyway. The kit arrived today without any instructions. I guess I will post some pictures of my installation and write down a few pointers for those who will get this kit in the future.

The kit includes the followings:
- Zhukov Folding Stock, and a small metal part.
- Adapter to the receiver, and a positioning pin for the WS-MCR / WX-MCR
- bolt & washer
- two screws to close the holes for the rear receiver pins for WK-180, which does not have this pin.

The kit does not come with any tools. Tools needed:
- Castle nut wrench
- Hex keys of 3/16" (for installation) and 5/32" (for removing my original adapter bolt)

First step is to remove the original stock, buffer tube and adapter.

Place the steel positioning pin into the new adapter.

Fold the folding stock, so the installation surface is exposed. Folding my stock was more difficult than I thought. I had to pry and tap for it to open for the first time. It became eaiser later. This thing is tight!

There is a part to be placed on top of the hole inside the folding stock. The vertical side fits inside the opening on the left side, to be right beside the press button when unfolded. This took me a while to figure out.

After this it was easy. Place the adapter to the rear of the receiver, and line up the stock. Tighten the bolt.

The rear receiver pin was very tight for the new adapter. I had to tap it a few times for it to go in. I guess this is a good thing.

This is what it looks like when completed. Cheek-weld is almost an inch lower than the original stock. I had removed the spacer in the prism scope, so it was at about the same level as AR sights. It feels more comfortable to aim than the original stock (half of my cheek is always on the tube).

Folded rifle length is 30.75". The stock soft-locks in the folded position, and does not fall open. Neither the ejection port nor the trigger is blocked. The rifle seems to be operational.

There are 5 telescopic positions inside the stock. I find the 2nd shortest position just right for me in just a t-shirt (5' 11" height with normal arm length). This means I can go to the shortest length if I'm in winter clothing.

Pictures show for me on posts 1 and 2 but no pictures show on posts 3 and 4.

Is it like that for everyone or am I doing something wrong?

Interesting looking project though. I wouldn't mind seeing the ones I can't see.

For some strange reason, the pictures I uploaded showed for about 10 minutes, and they are gone.

I checked my settings - attachments. It seems that I have not used up my quota, but some images are "in progress". No idea what that means.

Edit 3/16/2021:
I deleted all attachments that were not showing, and re-uploaded the images, plus a couple of new ones.

Hope that this time they all appear okay.

Nice! Good to know it fits the MCR nicely, and in particular they accommodated the rear takedown pin that was added for the MCR design. The axe-like vertical proifle and narrow stock width more closely mirrors the AR-180s original stock.

I tested the Zhukov folding stock in the range today. Unfolded, the stock is sturdy, and comfortable to shoot. Cheek-weld height is ideal. I did some 100-yard shooting.

Folded, I could still shoot the rifle with decent accuracy at 50 yards, holding it like a big pistol. Not much recoil at all. The only issue was that the mag release was a little hard to get to, but doable.

Thanks for the range testing, and in particular the folded accuracy test; you don't hear performance on how the rifle performs folded much at all.

The wx mcr has a weird color coating. I'll stick to the ws

I have the Zhukov stock on my wk. it’s a good, solid piece of kit. I’ll by experimenting with cheek risers in the near future. It’s a clear upgrade on the ar buffer style stocks
