When I had my first 7mm Rem Mag (Rem 700 LSS), I didn't handload for it as it would produce sub-.5MOA groups with Federal Premium 165 gr SGK ammo.
I have just acquired a LH Browning X Bolt All Weather in 7mm Rem Mag. I have picked up the following ammo to try in its to see what it will show a preference for:
- Nosler 150 gr Ballistic Tip ammo
- Federal 155 gr Terminal Ascent ammo
- Federal 160 gr Trophy Bonded Tip ammo
- Nosler 160 gr AccuBond ammo
I have a good supply of both Nosler bullets on hand for developing loads for this rifle, if it shows an affinity for either...although the 160 gr AB would be my preferred bullet.
I am very interested in seeing how the 155 gr TA does, as these bullets are starting to show up in component form. (I have found the 130 gr 6.5 and 136 gr .277 bullets already).
Although, if these prove to be as accurate in this rifle as others have in other cartridge/rifle combos, I may not even try to improve with a handload.
My reloading mentor has often stated that Accurate's MagPro powder is THE powder for the 7mm Rem Mag. I know he preferred the 175 gr bullets from various makers (Partition, TBBC, Grand Slam), but also loaded the 160 gr bullets quite a bit too (AccuBond, Partition, E Tip). He had several good loads for the various 7mm Rem Mags he owned. I do not recall any specific loads for H4831sc though.
I know others have had good results in their rifles with Re-22, IMR7828 and H1000. (Re-22 may not be a good option due to availability, unless you have a bunch on hand).
