What is the difference between these two rifles? I have looked in the Browning catolog and don't see much difference and they don't seem to say anything different about them. Is one supposed to be higher end than the other, prices are similar. Any info appreciated. Cheers Roscoe

One difference is the A bolt has a hinged floor plate that the magazine clips onto the X bolt has a more conventional removable plastic mag, the X bolt also has 4 screws for each scope mount instead of 2 on the A bolt. I prefer the A bolt I like closing the hinged plate without the magazine to keep dust out of the action, but both are good rifles. It would be a good idea to handle one or both.I am sure your question. Will be more than answered.

Things you might like on the Xbolt:
Does not have non rotating bolt sleve or stupid little wheel on cocking piece,
better trigger?, allows action to be opened with safety on(big deal).

Things you might like on the Abolt
Hard to lose mag, safety locks the bolt handle down.

have quite a few A-bolts and like them very much, haven't tried an X-bolt as of yet, but hope to find an interesting one someday soon.

+1 on accuracy with XBolt in 30-06. Nice crisp trigger. Like it more than my Tikka T3 hunter.
