I recieved my new X-bolt yesterday, first time ever holding one...overall impressions is the lightweight and small feel of the rifle compared to my T/C's that i used to have. but still a comfortable rifle. my only problem(for lack of a better word) is the bolt handle...it feels really small in my hands compared to the big tactial knob on the TC Dimension i just got rid of(due to the recall). does anyone else feel the same about the bolt handle? and you think it'd be a bad idea to get an aftermarket knob put on for bigger hands?? I've found knobs on a few of the sponson websites that are really well priced, and if I can get a local gunsmith then it shouldnt be a very expensive project.

dont get me wrong though, I like this Browning and it may lead to more Brownings in the collection.

I think that most hunting rifle bolt handles are small because they'll bump into the scope otherwise.
Unlike tactical rifles, most people will mount smaller (32mm) objectives, with lower scope mounts, so their scopes don't get caught and damaged in the wild.

But hey! If you have big hands, and you'll clear the scope, why not? :)
Whatever makes you shoot better...

I have one in .270 and feel the same way-its the only short coming of an otherwise nicely designed compact rifle. I just cycled it 50+ times so its part of muscle memory and should be fine for hunting situations.

I love the trigger on my x-bolt but did get used to the bolt being a little skinny. My biggest complaint is the cheap looking plastic mag on my fancy looking wood stocked gun.At least the mag works ok...

Yea i got it in 270 also. I was really surprised when i held it for the first time...was not expecting it to be as petit as it is. going to take abit to get used to it...i will be honest...i do miss my TC Dimension that i traded for the x-bolt.(traded at a local gun dealer) and in some ways reget doing it.

BUT that being said, i havent been out yet to fire it so i would think in time i'll come to love it...i hope anyways

Just what a hunter needs, a big blasted bolt kanobby digging into his backside.

cant speak for every hunter but i keep my rifle in my hands while hunting, walking to and from the stand. but if someone does have the problem of the bolt digging into his backside...FLIP THE RIFLE OVER.

Agreed, though a rifle is usually in my hands, many hunting situations call for sling carry over long distances, especially when packing out meat. I also don't need some gaudy benchrest trinket catching sticks and branches and clothing while hunting either.

I don't mind the "small" factory configuration of the X-Bolt Bolt but it could sure use some texture/checkering. I've been looking for an aftermarket bolt handle myself. Not so much oversized, just one with a bit of grip.

Hey East. Where did you find the knobs?
