My hunting buddy has a Browning X Bolt Micro in 7:08. The magazine doesn't advance a cartridge when it's cold. When it's warm, it works fine. Has anybody else come across this issue? If so, do you have a fix. Don't really like purchasing a replacement mag, if it's just more of the same. Talked to one Browning rep and he has never heard of this problem. Kinda feel I'm just getting shined on.

Have you disassembled and cleaned the mag? If it's acting up only when cold, first thing I'd look at is whether there is some lube or something gumming up and not allowing the follower to move freely.

This. If he doesn't know how to take it apart, check YouTube. I know several X-bolt owners who hunt in cold weather without issue.

YouTube has many folks saying do not take them apart. Browning says do not take them apart. The mags are terrible. I have several which have never worked from day one.

If you have several which have never worked, why do you have them? Or, how do you deal with it?

I own a few x-bolts as well as buddies do and I've never heard of this before.

Iam looking at an x bolt 300wm but keep hearing about the mag problem, Iam now thinking of buying something else.

Had an xbolt in 308 win, had the described magazine issues below -5*c. Took the magazine apart, confirmed it was clean, reassembled, still had issues in the cold. Bought a second magazine, had the same issues. I disassembled the magazine, sanded (all the way from 250 to 2000 grit to get it smooth) the inside of the magazine to a slightly larger space all around, which fixed the problem. But what a joke of a system. I sold the gun and i will never again buy another centerfire with a rotary mag that uses such a small spring.

had the same issue.

maybe some xbolt owners have not meet this issue yet, but sooner or later....
because it is definitely a design problem, a weak spring rotatory magazine ...

all x bolt owners , especailly, or at least, those who had such problem, should stand out to Browning, push them to recall the magazines and send us a redesigned one:
for example, same size, same shape, same fit, but changed to single stacked strong spring loaded, it may have to reduce from 4 rounds to 3 round, but fixs this problem
