X bolt Muzzle brake failure

Not sure how this thread asking for feedback from people that have experienced the same issues with their Browning rifles turned into a thread where people are questioning and criticizing my use of a brake on my rifle. Typical CGN I guess.

Yes the "I don't like a brake and you shouldn't use one" crowd is quite strong... they seem to get quite incensed some times...

I have a xbolt hells canyon with the muzzle brake on it and I fired about 60 rounds. I hope this was an isolated issue or something. I did not have any trouble yet.

My friend has an xbolt In 300 wm with the browning brake and has fired well over 200 rounds though it, no issues as of yet.

Good to hear, hopefully mine was an anomaly. The guy at Browning said he had been there 3 years or so and has seen a few of these brake failures in that time. His service was excellent. Went in the back and found a new stainless brake and popped it in the mail immediately with no questions asked.

I had the BOSS unit on my .375 H&H Browning A Bolt stainless stalker & really liked it. I used the brake to soften the push from factory loads.
Sure a concussive blast to nearby shooters on a covered firing line though. They quickly setup a few benches over.

Most of my shooting with that rifle however was done with the factory supplied, non vented muzzle weight as my handloads were tuned fer tossing 270 gr
Hornady's at 1050 fps. Fookin' rifle would plant my sub-sonic loads into an inch at 100 yds consistently when I did my part.
Should've kept that one.
:bangHead:

June 16 2020 update. So I received my replacement muzzle brake from Browning yesterday, excellent service! In the meantime I have sold the rifle. Gonna go back to the old A bolt, wasn't impressed with the new rotary magazine and a few other things.

Cheers

I am the opposite... much prefer the X-Bolt over the A-Bolt... but I have not had a problem with either...

Which poor unsuspecting CGNer got your broken rifle? lol :)

Nothing wrong with it, wasn't sold to anyone on this site.

Edit: July 5.

The fella who bought the X bolt off me is super happy and loving the rifle! I ended up picking up a Tikka T3x stainless in 6.5 CM. Decided I wanted a bit lighter rifle in an easier shooting chambering. Have a 300 mag and a 30-06 in the safe already so didn't really have a need for another high velocity rifle. The X bolt is a very nice rifle and was tempted to buy another but I hear good things about the Tikka and thought I should try one out.
