X Bolt Pro stock weight?

Hello fellow nutz! Does anyone out there have an X Bolt Pro with the second generation carbon fibre stock and a kitchen scale? If so would you be willing to post up an accurate weight of just the stock (with recoil pad)? I would contact Browning but they are dirty filthy liars when it comes to weight, I’d rather some one actually weigh one if possible.

I’m contemplating ordering a carbon fibre stock for my micro, just curious as to what my weight savings would be. Thanks!
 
I don’t have a pro stocked rifle to weigh, but are they selling the stock separately now?

If so I would totally pick one up my self as well.

Honestly likely little to no weight savings. Browning carbon stocks are trash in comparison to most others and don’t shave much if any weight compared to their usual plastic duratouch stock

Owned a pro and a hells canyon at the same time. The hells canyon shot better felt better and weighed the same.. maybe an oz or two less but I’m pretty sure it’s the same… so where are the weight savings for doubling the price ?

I don’t know if they will sell them to everyone, but if you buy a browning Mirco (I have two) you qualify for their “growth insurance program” (or something like that). Through this program you are able to buy any full size, regular production, in stock, stock from them for half price. In order to be approved you have to fill out the form on their website and show proof of purchase of the firearm.

Interesting. I too have a Hells canyon speed, it’s a heck of a shooter. I did just check their website, which is of zero practical use for determining the weight of anything. But, for the sake of argument, a Hells canyon speed is listed at 6lbs 5oz, the pro in the same chambering and barrel length is listed at 6lbs 1oz. The pro has a fluted bolt body (weight savings), but also a larger bolt handle (added weight). So according to browning there is a 4oz difference. But that’s according to browning.

Why so salty over brownings advertised weights??? I once upon a time purchased a BLR stainless takedown with the laminate stock. The advertised weight was 7lbs 6oz (or something like that). So I thought with a lightish scope I could have a 8.5ish pound scoped takedown backpacking rifle. Nope. It arrived, I weighed it right off the bat, 8lbs 6oz, or something like that. It was 8 or 9 ounces heavier than advertised. A full half a pound. I couldn’t believe it. I wrote them a not very nice letter via their complaint department on their website, telling them this was not acceptable and that I wouldn’t ever buy another browning rifle. I sold the BLR because it did not meet my weight requirements, never even shot it once.

What’s funny about that is I JUST checked their website to see the advertised weight of the BLR, 8lbs 6oz now. Holly cow, perhaps someone out there is listening!?!?! Or perhaps someone threatened a false advertising lawsuit???
 
I can weigh a short action for you this weekend.

I also have a micro. Without having weighed them, I don't think it's worth buying a carbon stock even half price. I vaguely recall seeing the MSRP...

If I had a blued micro I would consider a white gold medallion stock

Thank you! Good catch on the action length, I suppose that will affect the weight. The micro was blued, it is now cerakote midnight bronze, I don’t know how that would look on wood? I kind of suspect not great. The Medallion stocks are very nice though.... you have me thinking...

The stock on my Hells canyon speed comes in at 898g (with recoil pad and sling swivels but no bottom metal, mag or action screws). It has duratouch though, that might add some weight? The stock on my micro composite is 813g (same configuration). My wife’s micro Midas is 827g (same configuration).

To establish a basis of comparison, my bottom metal, mag and action screws is 150g on my scale, pretty darn close to yours.

Looks like what you and others have said is true, not much to be gained in weight savings. Good thing x bolt pros are an extra grand... lol

Yes, it includes the recoil pad. The xbolt micro can have between 5/16 and 1 5/8" shorter stock, as well as a 2" shorter barrel. It ends up being a few grams heavier than the pro, which has a fluted barrel and bolt.

Buy a stock spacer for 10$ and put the difference on some good glass.
