X Mark Pro trigger. Are they that bad?

I know what the safety is for, but what's the non safety trigger for. I never chamber a round until I'm ready to shoot something and really have no need for a safety.

Target rifles, mostly. There's a certain purity and simplicity in the rifle that is either loaded, ready and pointed downrange, or empty, open and with a empty chamber indicator on display. Nothing in between. In a situation like that a safety is useless and can even be a distraction. In the same circumstance the sure and certain knowledge that your chamber is empty on a closed rifle will still get you kicked out, or at least reamed out by the first person to spot it. One guy's safer than hell is the next guys unforgivingly reckless.

The only time I've actually used the safety in a match. I forgot to take it off, and it was a standing w/sling at 300yards. Before then I was keeping safety off and bolt open until RO called watch and shoot. If I could choose with or without I would go without, but it is a target gun so I don't have to worry about walking around with a chambered round. I prefer no external safetys in my pistols (sig ftw).

I don't see much point walking around in the bush with a round in the chamber , therefore I don't think I need a safety.

I don't see the sense in walking around in the bush without a shell in the chamber, therefore I want a safety.;) Besides, what am I supposed to do with my single-shots, muzzleloaders and doubles, carry them empty? Most of my bolt actions have a better safety than any of them.

I've got target rifles with no safety, and have been buggered up enough times on a trap range by safeties that somehow managed to find their way on that I can well understand why someone would prefer it not be there at all.

I've shot a couple of moose and didn't have a round chambered, they are not that fast. But to each there own. I just don't like walking in front of anybody with a round chambered. I guess if your hunting alone, it would be OK.

Wait til the empty bush turns into a couple of grizzlies looking at you, or just a whitetail getting away, or a buffalo that that was moving ahead of you has had enough, or the tracks that were previously empty have an elephant standing in them;)

:) none of those around here, only big ole stupid moose. And a couple of Grizzlies means you have to chamber a second rnd if your lucky.

I did get 13 shots off, 30 30 lever. At a whitetail deer. About 30 yrs ago in Devils lake ont. 7 , I was standing still and the other 6 I was running on the opposite side of the valley , load one shoot,6 more like that. That was awesome.anyway back to the trigger, I think I may keep my rem trigger, it's so nice. I don't chamber a rnd unless I'm ready to take a shot, so therefore I don't need a safety.
