Just tried some of the new X Metal bullets
Reloaded 125 grain 9mm using 4.8 grains of Hodgdon HP38
Tested on 4 different handguns
Canik TP9SA
Norinco NP34
Beretta PX4
HK P30L

Had fail to feed issues with all of the above except the Beretta PX4 which worked great.
Anyone had any similar experience with these bullets?

Are you talking about the polymer coated bullets. I have reloaded both 124 rd 9 mm and 180 gr 40 cal .Used them in a couple of Cz's and Sig P226 in both calibers and a Taurus carbine in 9mm. Zero issues. The coating lubes the bullets so the velocity is fast so I reduced the charge an still made major.. Longshot 6.2 grs with a180 gr 40 cal with berry plated and with the x-metal I could drop the charge to 5.4 and still made major.

Zero issues after loading/shooting several several thousands. Alexandre Berdat, the Canadian champion in Production division is using them so they have to be reliable. You must be doing something wrong, maybe seating not deep enough (COAL too long for the bullet ogive). What is your COAL - cartridge overall length? Picture of the bullets?

first of all apologies for the same 2 threads. Had just registered on this site and had posted the first one and had log in issues to see if had been posted. Did not see it in the forum so posted it again.
With regards to length had done the first batch closer to the max (1.155).
Am doing a second batch and am going to shorten them down (maybe 1.135) and try again.
Had considered length as a possible issue but wanted to get some feedback from others.
Appreciate all the responses and thanks again.

1.135 is still too long. Unless the profile of your projectile is quite different from anything I use (Frontier and CamPro) 1.135 would not work on my Tanfoglio or H&K.

Do they pass the plunk test??? Just because a book says a col doesn't mean it will work in your gun.

You got the answer in the other thread: Boltron gave you the answer. Work with your OAL of the cartridge. Nice to see that Beretta is less fussy then the rest.

You're on the hotter side of a load with HP38/W231 Start around 4.0 and work up to 4.8 looking for best groups AFTER you have found your best overall length. Unless there is some other reason to load as hot as possible, use a charge that works best.

Make a dummy round seating the bullet at 1.155. Drop it into the barrel and check to see that the base is flush or less and that the cartridge drops free without help. If it doesn't, seat it a little deeper and try again. Rinse and repeat. Once that length is found that works, measure and record it.

Buy another reloading manual. The charge weights on the can are max!
