No need to wait weeks or months if your in pain with a knee, shoulder, back injury etc .
I got mine in 2 days at a private clinic, cost $1400, but I had a diagnosis and course of treatment all setup up a week after my initial Dr. visit

This happened to me as well.
On the same note I had a small fragment of steel under the skin in my belly that I had forgot about. A couple days after an MRI the spot started to bleed and the chunk finally came out.
Take it you never had one as they don't even put stitches in for one. They were worried about my eyes for my MRI .
On the subject of 'how long for an 'MRI' ...in Ontario it "depends" -- sometimes quick and sometimes not... my GP requested an MRI for me several months ago ... and it is still several months out in the future - since I am feeling fine I am not too concerned. OTOH I have had them requested as a result of a hospital visit and they were conduced pretty quick.
I have however scheduled and completed an MRI ("3T MRI" ) in Buffalo, NY for $500 (Cdn!!) and it only took about 2 weeks to get in for the procedure. At the time (a couple of years ago) the technician - noting I was from Canada - casually observed that he thought they had more 3T MRI machines in Buffalo then we have in ALL OF CANADA. I asked a Radiologist friend of mine about this claim later ... and he said it was probably accurate!!
Considering the obscene amount of money we piss away into our Health System in Canada ... the lack of medical diagnostic hardware is inexcusable ... apparently it goes to salaries and TikTok dance choreographers.

Interior of BC is minimum 6 months wait for an MRI. I paid $900 for a private one (in Kelowna) and had it done next day. Commie BC government is trying hard to close the few remaining private MRI clinics in the Province. They would rather give free heroin and fentanyl to druggies and allow them to shoot up anywhere they like, even after providing 'safe injection sites' for them.

If I had $28k I could have it done in Calgary in a week.

I had a procedure done in July to hopefully rid me of my kidney cancer. The doctor wanted an MRI and a recheck in 6 month. Well I'm still waiting.

Cost if private clinic MRI where I went is based on how long your in the machine, id guess a small spot like Kidney area wouldn't take long and be much less than what I paid
Had a scan years ago and the doctor came back and asked if I hunted. Strange question I thought and inquired why he would ask. He proceeds to tell me I have 4 pieces of lead shot in my appendix. He only mentioned it because he said it was something they only usually saw in older folks and I was late 20's, no concern and no ill effects. Fact I was in the plumbing business at the time, doing heavy commercial and running 5 pounds of 50/50 solder and a can of lead flux daily explained the lead levels were not caused by the shot in my appendix eased his mind
Canada's health care is far from good for the money we pay. A number of years ago, I had an Ultrasound done by an American outfit that travelled to Canada. This was in Manitoba. I gave my family Dr the results, all verified by an American Dr and she promptly threw it onto her desk, picked up a requisition form and sent me to the Health Sciences in Winnipeg after a long wait. The scan there was no where as extensive as the one from the American outfit.
This same Dr sent me for a "trigger finger" release surgery. The surgeon messed up and now, one finger, my actual trigger finger, is messed up. The nerve and one blood vessel were severed and now can't be repaired.
Be careful around doctors.

Thx. I know the one off 111 Ave in Edmonton is no longer there, it is where I had my knee done about 9 years back or so. Was just in the building about a month ago. I'll check with the other locations. - dan
While I was still in the CF, these are the folks that I was sent to. https://www.mic.ca/locations/ Not sure what the rates are now, but it was a bit under a grand per session then.
They were pretty concerned about metal in my eyes, mostly. After the first go-round, I started making it a habit to be there and check in early, because they usually wanted an x-ray done to confirm no metal in my eyes, from work.
