Hey Guys,

I recently picked up an X95 chambered in 5.56 NATO and finished shooting it for the first time today, and had planned on doing a detail strip of the bolt to see what sort of shape it was in. While flipping through the manual I noticed that my bolt group looked different than the one pictured. The pictured bolt group for the 5.56 version has a window cut out in it where you can see the spring.

In my gun I have what appears to be the .300 BLK version of the bolt, and for the life of me despite watching Youtube videos and following both versions of the instructions in the manual I can not get the bolt disassembled. My question is does this matter, having the .300BLK version of the bolt in the gun that is? It is brand new so I'd like it to be configured correctly. I've put about 100 rounds through the gun and it ran fine other than the bolt not staying open on an empty magazine consistently. I have an inquiry into the shop where I purchased it as well, but thought I would ask this audience as well.

Picture for reference below of what I'm talking about.

Some googling has me understanding that the .300BLK and the 5.56 use the same size bolt head, the actual bullets of course are different sizes and stuffing .300BLK OUT rounds into a 5.56 chamber could make for a very bad day. So while I don't think this is a safety issue for me I would still like to have the right bolt in the gun especially being brand new.

good post -ill check mine too -mine also the same but to disassemble pull rod out to 1.43 inches --it comes apart n o problem--ill call iwi in morning to find out why

300blk and 556nato/223rem uses the same bolt. Atleast it is in AR ACR.

then this makes sense---all ok but ill check anyways--ill bet a 100 bucks they made it a common carrier group as when they changed trigger group design-some came with one others with other one---called 2 buddies both x95 the same--from last batch

300blk is a 223 case with the narrow part cut off generally speaking. So it will be very odd that they make a different bolt just for that caliber

second batch has the solid--its 300blk bolt carrier---checked both the same dimensions---ill call isreal in morning as iwi us doesn't necessarily know what isreal does(as they ship here direct)-have contact for english guy there--i bet they are universal--

UPDATE - Just chatted with merlin1 on the phone and he nailed it, I wasn't pulling the guide rod out far enough. I could get it to about 1.2" sticking out you have to give it an extra tug to get it out the 1.4" required to clear the bolt assembly and then everything just slides apart like butter.

Now I have to catch up to Dilligaf and get this thing properly dirty.

I dont plan on cleaning it until it start to give me failures. But if I see a puddle at the range I will submerge it for good measure :)

Whats funny is the X95 is the rifle I bring to the range as backup, Well the last 2 training sessions I ended up using it as my primary ...lol... Its so small it feels uncomfortable to me. Its actually my wifes rifle,,, hahahahah

no response from Iwi Israel yet---iwi us doesn't know anything about such a change as their carriers do differ---and North Sylva is not aware of any changes as of yet--but they will look into it--will update..

To my knowledge, one of the points of .300blk was to use the same bolt and carrier as 5.56.

The Tavor has had several generations of Bolt carrier and piston as they constantly tweak the design. That actually looks similar to some older gens but I don't see why it wouldn't function as intended.

Basically, if you were given a 5.56 BCG, then you have the correct BCG.

I don't know how you can do that. It would drive me nuts. I shudder to think what the tar, errr oil in your vehicles looks like!!

I use Redline and change it every 8K . The X95, im sure can run 8K rounds before I need to clean it.

Its a tool not a museum piece.
