XCR 10 Round 7.62x39 Pistol Mags With Magpul Ranger Plates

Stevo answered, but to add; They work frikin awesome. Get some.

I use them for ease of mag pouch storage. I could find a suitable pouch so I shimmed the bottom of a 20rnd and use Ranger Plates.
I use L Plates on my 5 round mags. It's how I distinguish the 2 at a glance.

Trim your follower legs while they're out, otherwise they're 9 round mags. I trimmed enough to load 10 on a closed bolt.

Add:
I believe the one pictured is Pmag

Just watch the trimming of the follower. Doesn't take much to go from 9 to 10 or 10.5.
I bought ten from Questar and probably 4 out of 10 didn't need any trimming at all.
While you have them apart, get a small rat tail and bastard file and shave the front wall of the mag down so the rounds have zero feeding issues.

That's odd. I have 27, all with Ranger Plates. Every one needed trimming.
Even my 5 rounders needed trimming when I put on L Plates. The spring, not the follower.

No they're not for sale...

Bloody hell, you guys were not kidding... I have 5 mags now that all need at least a cm or more removed from the follower to fit 10 in there, even then a little too tight for a closed bolt...why don't these mags hold 10 as advertised??? (9 works fine)

Odd, does the rear leg of the follower look shortened at all over regular length?

The most I've ever had to take off after installing a Ranger plate was 2-3mm.

I spent close to a minute trying to squash the bug in your sig that I thought was scurrying around on my screen while I was out on the deck just now. Hope you work out the ranger plate problem...maybe try a magwedge?

Hey Stevo,

I sure could use some pointers then... are you using them with ranger plates and fitting 10 rounds with room to seat on a closed bolt (aka 10.5 rounds)

Yes, I'm using them with the Ranger plates and fitting so they seat on a closed bolt.

You're correct in that the follower is no good with the stock floorplate when it's been fitted. That's just the way it is. They're only $3 or so each.

They do need to be modded individually so the amount removed from the follower may vary slightly. It's hard to tell from your pics if the rear leg on B and C have been shortened from stock. Maybe they just zipped off the front leg and left the rear stock to save the work? That would explain why they only held 9 and why you have to trim so much more when installing the Ranger plate.

Any idea where I to buy the correct 7.62x39 followers should I need more?

There is no correct 7.62x39 follower, they're just .223 ones with the front leg removed.

Oh I should clarify all my mags do hold 10.5 with the factory floor plate installed (I just got these mags used and never checked until now, also the factory followers were untouched when I got them as the still have the moulding marks on the follower legs), but only hold 9.5 with the ranger plate. It seems the ranger plate floor plate takes up 1 full round of space.

That all sounds normal.

See highlighted above.

They are backordered nation wide, I ordered 10 more months ago... the date keeps getting pushed back, currently end of May. Back orders filled first, then whatever's left I imagine will be scooped up quickly.

Contact Wolverine to order them, they will invoice you now and contact you for payment when then finally arrive.

Ok thanks
