XCR 10000 round range report **pic heavy** and long winded...

keeps the muzzle down for faster follow up shots, so ive been told. it was cheaper than other comps I was looking at so i thought id give it a try

9x19 - how does the rifling look on your barrel?

The same as all my shotguns ;).
No it's holding up ok. Viewing from the muzzle has a crisper look than from the chamber. I was a little concerned at ~8000 rounds but it cleaned up nice with some Wipeout.
My favorite gong is at 630 yards. What was 50% success on the gong is now 40%, so it's a little worn.
I won't change it yet.

The same as all my shotguns ;).

coffee everywhere!

also, if my math is right, at that distance your XCR is turning into a field gun more than a battle rifle. 7.5-8 feet of holdover?
40% success rate on a gong at 630 yards with a 7.62x39mm is nothing to be ashamed of! now, dare I ask... what size gong?

Well, my gong is actually an old postal truck, so about 20 feet x 10 feet. Lol

It's 16" diameter, paired with a 6", for my accurate guns.
I should mention that I shoot over a valley, so I can only read the wind the first 20 feet, and the last 100 yards.

Hey. 9x19. I am a winner just by chatting with you guys and sharing info . I love learning and sharing what I know. Thanks Guys and Gals . a quote by my good friend that has passed" no work of any value can be performed without a hammer or a beer". Cheers

Cheers boogie.
Your friend was right, and I feel like fixing something. Can't find my hammer but I'll make do.
.
Actually the beer has to wait. I went to Wanstalls today at lunch, and came home with another crate and an interim scope. I have to get ready for tomorrow. I'm taking 100 in mags and a tin of 720. I plan on coming home light. It's supposed to rain hard, I'm looking forward to it.

My scope crapped on me, the day of round count 10000. By days end, I was holding over 3 feet @ 100. I could see the reticle bounce with any shot or adjustment. From now on, I think I'll bring my buis.

I bought a Bushnell AR223, as planned for a .22, it'll sit in the XCR till the budget adjust favorably. I'm thinking of the Vortex Razor 1-6. It might have to wait 6 months, but it's calling my name.

I've got a brand new Bushnell AR 1-4 pcl sitting on the XCR waiting for its next range trip. So far it seems pretty good. Just about true 1x with almost no distortion. It almost feels like more than 4x on the top end. My only dislikes are the target turrets, the eyebox and the illumination in that order. Target turrets are useless with BDC and not a good idea on anything slated for rough use. Capped turrets would be smarter. The eyebox is ok except you need to be right in the middle otherwise the image blurs badly. Its a bit tempermental in that respect. However when you're there the glass is very bright and clear. Eye relief doesn't change much between 1 and 4x. The illumination is only useful on max setting in low light. I like solid illumination on 1x in daylight for fast acquisition. Overall for the price however its a winner. I don't feel it has competition in its price range but it has shortcomings as one would expect in a feature-packed budget tactical optic. I'll reserve any solid judgement until I've had a few thousand rds through it.

Hey supernova, our opinions of the scope are pretty similar.
My first observation;) was how tight the eye box is, very little forgiveness. I don't think it'll be an issue as I've got a good weld with the Magpul riser. The glass is decent for the price tag, but the reticle leaves me wanting more. It's very hard to see in daylight, on 1x, almost useless.
I'm a fan of target turrets, remember I came over here from the precision forum. I'm a dialer.
This is my first mrad scope and I've got some learning to do. After running 400 rounds yesterday, I believe this will be a good interim scope.

After sight in, I shot a couple groups, which I don't do a lot of with the XCR.
The first was 10 rounds, cold bore. The highest shot was #1, the second highest was #10. The core wasn't too bad...

Another group, of five.

Thanks for the detailed writeup, there isn't much first-hand experience with this rifle online.

Thank you, and welcome to GunNutz.
I was searching another site couple days ago. I searched "XCR", not even a single hit. The site is a couple years old, comprised of Canadian gun owners. Not even 1...
I'm working on it :).

@ darren32, thank you.

Well, there will be another owner chiming in soon, I ordered an XCR-L keymod tan in 7.62x39 from Wolverine Supplies (I chose the lightweight barrel). I even found 10 round pistol mags in stock at The Ammo Source.

I'm debating building (or buying) a short barrel AR for a range toy too, the XCR will be my NR swiss army knife :p
