XCR .223 chamber question

Not really, let me settle this once and for all. I'll put my money where my mouth is.

Give me a .223 rifle from a known manufacturer that is not crap. I'll shoot 5.56 though it all year.

I'll give you $100 for every round that blows up the rifle.

You give me one penny for every round that does not blow up in the rifle. The only question is, who pays for all the ammo. I say the loser.

Any takers?

Please only answer the question asked and not get into the whole .223 vs 5.56. Debate.
Thanks for the feedback that the XCR is chambered in 5.56.

I only stated what mine is marked. I would shoot 5.56 in mine as it is marked that way. The best way to judge is to look at the markings on your specific firearm, and if it is marked as .223 and you want to shoot 5.56, then send an email to the manufacturer of the rifle (and barrel if its from a different company) and get in writing from them that it is safe for both. In the end it is most likely not unsafe, but it is discouraged by the international regulating bodies.

Would like to add that I interchange .223 and 5.56 allll the time and have never had a problem either... just thought this topic was going to get "lit up" if you know what I mean...

But nemesisincanada your barrel is apparently stamped 5.56 so your good to go... and even if it was .223 - your still good to go haha I agree with mak_daddy, I was just waiting for the storm/debate/argument.

Some rifles imported to Canada form the states are chambered I 5.56 but are stamped .223 in example is the LMT defender series is stamped on the Barrle .223 but when I called LMT they had told me the barrels are all chambered in 5.56 NATO but are stamped .223 for export reasons.

5.56 has a taper to the riffling at the throat to ezz the bullet in to the riffling. And .223 has no taper to the riffling which stalls the bullet when fired. So if your chamber is a true .223 chamber firing 5.56 NATO in that chamber could cause it to blow up. The charge in a 5.56 is higher then a .223 and when it hits the riffling and stals on the taller edge of the riffeling the pressure spikes up big time and can over pressurize the .223 chamber.

Cheers hope this helps

That's what I'm trying to find out about the XCR-L. Is a .223 stamp on an XCR-L barrel indicative of a .223 chamber or a 5.56 or a wylde? #### the US DOS for this fiasco.

It won’t explode if that’s what you’re asking. A 5.56 marked XCR may not be a true 5.56 chamber. Anyone ever check it?

This has been addressed before, Rob Arms began marking Canadian guns with .223 purely for export reasons, the guns are designed to fire 5.56. In fact they encourage people to use the higher pressure cartridge for breakin.
