XCR guys.....my Slick Clean shaved girl is back

While it looks cool I'll be passing on this mod.

I mount a tactical light on the front of my bottom rail and have the light switch pad attached to the right hand rail I also sometimes mount a pic rail front sling attachment the left rail.

I use the Magpul ladder pic rail covers so the fore end is not that large/wide if I pop the stock rail covers on and then it is huge.

Looks nice and slick, probably points nicer now that it is not so fat up front.

I doubt it did much to decrease the weight, maybe 1/4, or 1/3 lb or so. That said, it adds up, and makes the rifle easier to bear on target the lighter it is.

I actually just thought about this with the -M I just got.

To be honest, I don't understand why RA is still doing this. It'd be a lot cheaper to make this uppers without side/bottom rails, as, that would reduce a lot of extra machine time. Just put a few holes in for mounting rails up near the front and you're good to go.

I'm curious if it has to do with rigidity and the way the quick change barrel setup works.

No it can't help the slots in the rail are as deep as the shave

There was at least .030 extra removed after the slots were gone. There is a lot of meat left still and I thought of rigidity when I was doing it. I also wanted to make sure that rails could be bolted back on.

I use that slight shadow as an aiming point I know without having to aim at the distances I use a light that my bullet will impact right where that slight shadow is and when I mount my Streamlight 200 Lumen tact light due to it being so bright I do not even see the slight shadow.

So basically your saying that Wild West Guns with their tact light mount that installes onto the mag tube under the barrel of my Marlin 1895GS or Surefire shotgun tact light front fore end have it wrong as well?

:D

I don't just play with at the range or just use them for home defense the main reason I mount lights under the barrels of my defense firearm is I mostly use my firearms in the bush not just at the range I pack them in my Eberlestock X3 LowDrag daypack.

Mounting a light on the side of the barrel makes the entire fore end of the firearm wider than it has to be = mounting lights on the side results in snagging up all of time also makes it more difficult to slip it into/out of the scabbard and keeps branches from snagging when I am carrying.

I'm thinking Wild West Guns/Surefire/etc etc understand this as well.

Ah I don't just play with guns so Wild West away my friend lol

I think as a few of the tier one guys that 12 o'clock is the best place for a lite I run all me rifles at 11 and if I run a switch ( don't like wires) it's mounted on the top so I can get it with both hands if I have to switch hands
