XCR Heavy barrel.

Just wondering if its possible to get heavy/ match barrels for the XCR. Or if there are any in the works.

They already come with Heavy Barrels.

The only non-restricted XCR-L barrl is the 18.6 heavy barrel profile. With this barrel, my rifle is very accurate (better than 1-1.5 MOA 5 shot groups with Hornady 60gr TAP-FDP).

I believe all Canadian models came with the heavy barrel.

Thanks guys, wasnt sure if it was a true heavy barrel or if people were just calling it that.
was also thinking it would be nice to have a match barrel that might get the groups down it the SL8 territory.

Apparently you can send a barrel blank from your manufacture of choice and Rob Arms will turn it down and install the Barrel extension. So theory says that you could buy a stainless match barrel and have it brought in country with a Wolverine shipment.

Both of my XCR-L uppers in 223 & 6.8SPC give me MOA or better = good enough for me.

When I get an -M, I intend to get it fluted to try and improve the balance. I think it would be sweet. Anyone done this.

Awhile back Ian at Herron Arms was doing some custom work on an XCR with a stainless match barrel. Can't recall the details though..

Fluting the barrels shaves 4-5oz off the weigh of a10 lb gun, it is more for looks than function.

It does a little for extra surface area too, so quicker heat dissipation. Not much though, I would hazard a 5% difference in surface area...

Now Ball dimpling on the other hand....

Re-contour and fluting. Might be good for nearly a pound.
