Hey guys,

I just got a brand new XCR from wolverine and I love it, it shoots like a dream and no problems. The only thing that bothers me is that my pmags dont stay locked in. the LAR-15 mags from questar lock perfectly and so does the mag the rifle came with. The pmags will lock in if you smack them hard but if you move the gun the will pop right out.

has anyone else experienced this?? what can I do to fix this!?

Thanks for your time!

If your mags are pinned too tightly, inserting the mags on a closed bolt can be kind of a pain in the ass - this happens if the mags are pinned EXACTLY at 5 rounds.

Edit: Hmm, if this is happening on both a closed and empty bolt, I'm not sure what the problem could be.

I'm not that familiar with the XCR, but on the AR-15 you can adjust the depth of the part that locks into the magazine. At a glance the XCR looks to use the same parts.

Using my AR-15 as a reference, if you push the magazine release button in as much as you can - try and swing the piece that pops out, to the right, a revolution or two.

Thanks for the suggestion, if there is someone with an XCR that knows how to adjust this I would appreciate the help. I can't seem to figure it out using Dave's AR reference. I pressed the mag release as far as possible but there is nothing to turn that I can see.

Lol, looks like we've been through this on the FAQ.

hey guys, sorry if this has already been asked, just want to confirm that the beowulf mags fit in the XCR!...prob should have done that before i preordered 3!
Metal should, not sure about polymer. Magpul Pmag need the mag release hole cut out for proper seating otherwise they can be pulled right out easily, may need to do a similar cut to the polymer beowulf.

First make sure the rivet is flush to the mag.

So you've adjusted the mag release as said here and in the FAQ with no positive result? Then cut the mag release hole in one of your PMAGs to match the cut hole in your metal mags. Fixed my problem with PMAGs instantly.

This didn't work... I was able to adjust the mag release but the mag could still be pulled out on the tightest and losest setting :( so depressing

This sounds like the mag catch on your magazine must have some flashing in it from the mould. Inspect it carefully and remove any excess material.

It may be helpful to remove the magazine release from your xcr and use it as a guide to see if it can be seated in the magazine. If you can hear/feel a click but can still yank the mag out...I have to assume this must be the problem.

Lol in that forum that was before I had these pmags and had no idea about the problem lol, I cut out that little indent in the mag but it still doesn't seem to lock, I'm wondering if I need to cut out a little higher, when I shine a flashlight in the small space it looks like the mag release is not even getting into the hole

Here you go, this is what my PMAG and regular STANAG mags looked like to function 100% with my XCR.

Rivet ground flush, mag release hole cut to typical STANAG pattern.

Note, the top mag didn't have a flush rivet for this pic and could be inserted and pulled free without the mag release.

Grind that rivet. The XCR is picky and likes em skinny ;). You'll see in the pic I posted the rivet is ground to a little below the spine level, combine that with the mag release cut it was a 100% functional mag.
