Xcr-l 6.8 Barrel damage - What are your opinions?

Took the barrel to a ‘smith yeaterday. He said it doesn’t appear this gouge has any affect on the bolt. Doesn’t look like it’s making contact.

So other than cosmetic and affecting future resale value, this damage shouldn’t have much affect. I got the barrel for a good deal, including the type 3 gas block, which was required to fit in my competition upper, so I’m not overly worried about future resale value.

Why anyone would need to remove the barrel extension from the barrel is beyond me. There is no need to do this for any type of cleaning or maintenance purposes.

Even if someone wanted to build a new barrel there is no point in removing the extension from the old barrel. Wolverine sells the extension for $99 so why mess up the old barrel just to salvage a $99 part? The old barrel without the extension would become worthless.
Was considering getting a match barrel made, didn’t know wolverines is selling barrel extensions, thanks for the heads up. Last time I enquired about match barrels, ATRS was the only one to try removing the extension to install a match barrel, they got shut down on the project from RA....... copy-write or some chit.
