To anyone that owns an xcr made in 2013 how often do you have to tighten the barrel? I've read people have to always tighten it every trip to the range. In my shtf Fantasy I don't plan on tightening a barrel every 100 rounds

I haven't tightened mine once (or had to in the feild) in +/-1000 rounds. To be honest man I think the guys who have this problem are limp wristing it (being Pansy's). Torque her on good and tight and if your worried use some medium strength loctite but I haven't needed it yet.

Also if it's your shtf rifle I suggest you test it thoroughly. Fire it's lots, hot and dirty to make sure she runs and your barrel locking bolt doesn't come loose (as well as all othe bolts). I'd still pick up my cz858 or a bolt gun over my xcr in a real shtf scenario, but the xcr is slowly earning my trust but she has a lot of catching up to do as far as the simplicity and reliability of my cz858.

Also wolverine just released their parts kits for xcr's. Mines arriving tomorrow. Highly recommended to have spare parts for ANY shtf rifle.

I agree
If its your SHTF rig then run it hard
I fed my Robs a variety from Hornady to mil surp
From brass to steel cased
From 556 NATO to 223 REM
From GEN2 PMAG to LAR mag
I got rid of mine but i believe it was revision D
Before the large trigger guard/picatinny not slotted/FAST stock/ambi this ambi that
As far as anything coming loose > even being a rev D i never had anything come loose

Again since the Robs was sold im trying to find my "All purpose rig"
As of now its the Swiss Arms because its not once had an issue but the Tavor is slowly earning its stripes
I needs a couple thousand more rounds and lots of hunting before it can be my "Go to"

I've had to tighten a couple times only to realize I wasn't tighten it enough. Now when I do a caliber change at home I'll check it again when I'm at the range before shooting and after shooting

Would I consider the XCR as a SHTF rifle? Personally no. Yes it has its good points but it has more bad points too. Like where are you going to get parts if the rifle does crap out on you? I don't think there is enough XCR's out there to find extra parts to fix it.

That's why I would go with a AR. Mind you i wouldn't say no to a Tavor.

There are parts kits available right now with multiples of spare parts. No arguing your point I'm just saying right now parts are there haha

The issues are overblown and the bad stigma still attached from the early days.

Whoever isn't using a torque wrench to tighten the barrel down has no right to complain of it coming loose, simple as that IMO.

This^^^

I have an XCR-L with both .223 & 6.8 SPC. This gun is very reliable and has never failed or had parts come off. I have never needed to tighten anything. I bought it used from EE almost 2 years ago. It had an unconfirmed round count when I bought it & I have put about 1000 rounds down the pipe. I will say that it is a bit front heavy but this is the cost of a great NR black rifle. It cycles perfectly with any ammo using any AR magazines including LAR & Beowolf.

That's all I needed to hear. I'll probably put one on layaway this week!

You won't be disappointed my friend. I'm truly in love with this rifle. I have had zero failures with mine, I was just stating earlier that I would maybe pick my cz858 in shtf senerio simply because I don't have enough rounds through my xcr to fully and completely trust her. But soon enough I'm sure she will be my go to rifle, especially now that I have all the spare parts.

An off the wall question but is the XCR's sold in Canada 223 or 556? I know a lot of 556 rifles are sold in Canada as 223 to escape ITAR crap.

My barrel is stamped 5.56 NATO as I believe most are. Im pretty sure there is a small number that are stampes .223 but I could be wrong

I put over 5000 flawless rounds through mine other than 6 times I had'nt fully seated the magazine. Unfortunately I needed to give it up, it went to a good home, the new owner won't sell it back to me, I'd expect he's put another 2k through it by now if he shoots it as much as I did. I spoke to him recently... Hoping he'd sell it back... So far he's had 2 cycling issues and is certain at least one was an unseated mag as well.

7 thousand rounds, no loose anythings, no issues/flaws what so ever. And trust me I was hard on it. 4000 rounds without so much as a quick internal wipe down, just dribbled some oil in on 2 occasions. It would get wet/muddy and go back in the case like that for weeks, I'd chip/bang the mud off next time out.

It would absolutely most definitely be my shtf rifle. Giving it up was a terrible terrible mistake. Honestly I'd put it at #3 of the most regretful mistakes of my life.

Why wouldn't you consider the xcr a shtf rifle? Why is it so pricey if there is so many issues?

Just because a rifle is expensive doesn't make it good

My barrel was stamped 556 NATO but it wouldn't cycle 556 NATO only 223 rem
I tried many different types of 223/556
Don't get me wrong though, I loved my XCR
