Can anyone tell me the weights of both the heavy and lite barrels for XCR .223?
Extensive searching on the net yields no results, other than the 18.6" lite barrel lists at 7.5lbs,can't find similar info for hvy bbl??
Rifle is on near future wish list, just deciding on barrel choice.....and color,lol...toss-up between tan and green or maybe basic black, save $100 and Ceracote later?
Also are both/either bbls chrome lined?
Thx for replies,Dave

HB owner chiming in, the weight difference is very noticeable in hand. Depending on what you plan to do with the rifle, I suggest you hold both before you make the decision to go heavy. It's very front heavy vs. the much more balanced light contour. I wouldn't want to fire mine standing for more than a couple shots.

I have the HB key mod , groups good with the barrel hot. I had 10 lar mags loaded and it still grouped at 1 1/2. It is a bit hard to keep on bullseye with magnification . It weighs about 8 1/2 lbs.

The pencil barrels might make me get another one of these. My biggest beef with mine when I had it was that it was very front heavy. I miss the ergonomics.

I am very pleased with the light. Considered the heavy for a while as I wanted the perceived extra accuracy.

After shooting the light for a couple of days, I'm glad I went light barrel.

Today, -12C sunny light wind, I had no trouble shooting 1 to 1 1/4" groups with Factory .223 AE 50 gr HP from a harris bipod and rear bag. Handloads would certainly do better. Where I was most surprised, was the accuracy, standing offhand(still had bipod mounted adds 1 lb) at 115m. 165m and 180m shooting coyote "vital zone" sized rocks.

Can't imagine the HB could be greatly more accurate, only better for heat and maybe slightly more unwieldy. Coin toss. JMO

My light, unloaded(no mag), with Burris 1.75-5 scope with 1" Hi tactical rings weighs 8.2 lbs(bathroom scales) IIRC
The Harris 9-12" bipod adds 1 lb.

I'm thinking witha scope and 10 rnd mag ,I'm closer to 10 lbs.doesn't matter much to me cause I usually shoot off the bench, any free hand shooting is no big deal either just poorer groups.i didn't mean to imply that the HB is more accurate, just holds it's accuracy better ,if shooting high volumes of rnds. ( I may be wrong on that account also) .shot 10 lar mags ,in about 10 or 15 mins. Then loaded another and was still grouping at about 1 1/2 inches. ( probably closer to a inch) . Using 53g vmax hand loads , At 100 yrds. And I let them go quick as I can. Either way both barrels are awesome, I chose the HB because I liked how it looked:)

I have had both the HB with rails and now the pencil with keymod. They feel like completely different gunsd in terms of balance and handling.

I really like the new keymod pencil variant. As guys have said. Accuracy is well within reasonable limits with the light barrel.

Best too handle them.

I have both keymod and quad rail and the light and heavy barrel on the m. The keymod and light barrel is so much more balanced. Would never go back to the quad rail or heavy barrel.
