XCR-L keymod + lightweight barrel range report

Interesting. Light or heavy barrel?

Light barrel. I've had 1/2 dozen regular XCR's. Both L and M models. This being my first key mod model. After 3 10 round mags the adjustment for the gas knob was too hot to adjust by hand, after 6 mags you could feel the heat right in the hand guard. Yes we were shooting quite quickly but the heat was drastic in comparison to the railed fore end versions.

Mine never liked LAR mags. I think RA downsized the gas port or made some major changes to bolt weight/spring rate because mine ran on setting 1, ejecting 15-20 ft. Hot ammo would cycle on the suppressor setting. To have guys now cranking it up to 4 to get them to cycle is concerning. Adjustable gas systems are for harsh conditions. Crank er up when she gets dirty to keep er chuggin along. If it needs to be cranked up to get a clean rifle cycling then something is wrong.

Anyone else have a problem with LAR mags? Maybe my FTE issue is a LAR mag issue?

Which 10 round mags is everyone using?

I have always run XCR Micro Pistol LAR mags in my XCR's including my new Key Mod model without issue. I have had some issues with other LAR mags. The followers in the XCR Pistol mags seem to run smoother with in the mag body.

I've had feeding problems with mag followers pictured on the right. Replace them with E Lander or Magpul followers, and your problems should be solved. C Products always worked for us.
